ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Daemen University women's soccer team whits the road for the final time during the 2024 regular season this week, starting with a 4 p.m. tilt against Saint Michael's College on Oct. 16, before heading downstate to face East Coast Conference opponent Queens College at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 19.

LAST TIME OUT
Senior Alyssa Diaz (Rochester, N.Y.) and junior Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) each recorded a goal and an assist while junior goalkeeper Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) made nine saves to spark the Daemen University women's soccer team to a 2-0 non-conference home victory over Clarion University on Oct. 12. The win marked Daemen's fifth in their last six games and evened their record at 5-5. Miranto opened the scoring in the game's 52nd minute when she took a crossing feed from Diaz at the rear post and deflected the ball over the goal line. Sophomore midfielder Magda Carpenter (Lebanon, Conn.) picked up a secondary assist on the play as her pass sent Diaz scooting up the right sideline.  In the 58th minute, Miranto returned the favor as her crossing feed to the left side of the box found a streaking Diaz who tapped a shot past CU's sprawling goalkeeper Alex Velez and into the right corner of the goal, giving Daemen its two-goal cushion.

CLOSING IN ON HISTORY
Currently at 29 career goals, Miranto sits one goal away from becoming the fourth player in program history to score 30 goals with the Wildcats. The North Tonawanda, N.Y., native would join Jamie Boyar (55 career goals), Kim Walker (54 career goals) and Samantha Engel (36 career goals) as the only players to accomplish the feat. Of the three players who have scored 30 or more career goals, Boyar was the most recent, accomplishing the feat her junior season in 2018. For her career, Miranto is fourth all-time in career goals with 29 and fifth in career points with 67.

HELPING HAND
A native of Rochester, N.Y., Diaz currently leads the Blue and White and is currently tied for first in the ECC and 18th in the nation for total assists with five. Her five assists this year also represents a career-high for assists in a season. Twice this season, Diaz has scored and provided an assist in the same game (Sept. 24 at Roberts Wesleyan, Oct. 12 vs Clarion). The Rochester, N.Y., native sits two assists away from entering the top-ten all time for assists in a single season.

BRICK WALL
Schultz is currently ranked top-ten in the nation across multiple statistical categories. The junior goalkeeper leads the ECC and is ranked fourth in the nation for total saves with 83 across 10 games played. Her 8.30 saves per game rank ninth nationally and second in the ECC as well. In her last outing, Schultz made nine saves against Clarion, marking the fourth time this season and first instance since Oct. 2 against Roberts Wesleyan that Schultz made nine-or-more saves.
SCOUTING SAINT MICHAEL'S (7-1-3, 2-1-3 NE10)
The Purple Knights tied Northeast-10 rival the University of New Haven, 1-1, in their last match on Oct. 12. Saint Michael's was ranked seventh in the latest United Soccer Coaches East Region Poll, a ranking they have held for back-to-back weeks. Leading the Purple Knights on offense has been Scarlett Brooks (five goals), Sarah Gormley (four goals, two assists) and Faith Kosiba (four goals, two assists). In net, Juliana Anastopoulous has backstopped Saint Michael's to seven wins across ten starts. The Chestnut Hill, Mass. Native currently has 38 saves and only allowed nine goals all season.

SERIES HISTORY
Daemen and Saint Michael's have only faced each other twice with the last meeting coming on Sept. 1, 2017, in Colchester, VT. The Purple Knights and Wildcats played to a 1-1 draw with Sam Hanes scoring the lone goal for the Blue and White.
SCOUTING QUEENS (5-4-1, 2-1 ECC)
The Knights, who were picked fifth in the ECC Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, won their last conference game with a 4-3 victory over the College of Staten Island back on Oct. 5. On the offensive side of the ball, Julia Ragone is ranked 18th nationally and leads the ECC in shots per game with an average of 4.10. Ragone also leads Queens in total points with nine and goals with four. In net, Samanth Hines-Hirsch has totaled a team-best 52 saves and was named to the most recent ECC Weekly Honor Roll.

SERIES HISTORY
In a series that dates back to the 2013 season, Queens holds a slim 5-4-1 edge. However, the Wildcats have won four of the last five meetings, including a 1-0 victory last season at home thanks to a Madita Zeitz (Malsch, Germany) penalty kick.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats end the regular season with four consecutive home games, starting with a test against nationally ranked Gannon on Oct. 23. Kick-off from Karrer Field is set for 2 p.m.
