BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Daemen University men's cross country team raced in their final meet before the 2024 East Coast Conference Championships on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, placing seventh out of 11 teams at the
Canisius Alumni Classic at Buffalo's Delaware Park.

The University at Buffalo placed 12 runners in the top-20, including the first place, fourth place, fifth place, seventh place and ninth place runners, to take home the victory with 26 total points. Host Canisius University scored 64 points. Le Moyne College (124), Niagara University (132), Saint Francis University (149) and the Canisius Alumni (162) finished ahead of the Wildcats who scored 169 points on the day.
Junior
Aidan Kincaid (Orchard Park, N.Y.) paced the Wildcats in the race, finishing 35th out of 120 runners with a time of 26:54.1. Senior
Steven Blatto (Lancaster, N.Y.) and sophomore
Ethan Keating (Wooster, Ohio) ran together and finished within a step of one another, with Blatto crossing at 27:48.5 to place 49th and Keating finishing 50th with a time of 27:48.6.
Graduate student
David Schwinger (Buffalo, N.Y.) and junior
Josh Trometer (Lancaster, N.Y.) rounded out the Daemen scoring today, finishing fourth and fifth on the team. Schwinger placed 53rd with a time of 27:59.1, while Trometer crossing just behind him at 28:05.5 to place 54th.
Sophomores
Brad Tobin (Hamburg, N.Y.) and
CJ Johnson (Baltimore, Md.) and graduate student
Laertes Cushing (Alfred, N.Y.) also raced today. Tobin placed 75th with a time of 29:35.1, Johnson, running in just his second full race this season, crossed the finish line at 80th with a time of 29:57.4, while Cushing rounded out the Wildcat runners with a 91st place finish at 30:37.6.
The Wildcats will host the 2024 ECC Championships next weekend at their home course of Bassett Park in Williamsville, N.Y. on Saturday, Oct. 26.
