RETURNING HOME
The Daemen University men's soccer team is back in action this weekend when they start a three-game homestand by welcoming nationally ranked East Coast Conference foe Mercy University to Karrer Field on Oct. 26. Kick-off is set for 2:30 p.m. The Mavericks were ranked No. 20 nationally in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll and is ranked third in the latest United Soccer Coaches East Region Poll.

LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats surrendered a pair of second-half goals following a scoreless opening period and fell 2-0  to defending ECC champions Queens College back on Oct. 19. Fortune Uzo opened the scoring in the game's 50th minute, netting an unassisted tally - his first of the season. The Knights maintained just a one-goal advantage until Harry Cooke, the leading scorer in all of NCAA Division II, netted his 15th goal of the season. It came in the 75th minute and was also an unassisted tally. Daemen got a shot on goal by senior midfielder Gaëtan François (Limoges, France) in the 85th minute as he attempted to cut the deficit in half, but it was saved by QC's Thenasis Shehadeh. Francois accounted for two of Daemen's four shots on goal in the game.

TWICE AS NICE
Graduate student Dennis Montero Guerrero (Weingarten, Germany) and Rayane Baitiche (Thionville, France) are the only two members of the Blue and White to score twice in a match this season. Montero Guerrero supplied both of Daemen's goals in their 2-1 win over Lock Haven University back on Sept. 11, while Baitiche found the back of the net twice against Goldey-Beacom College on Sept. 18. Both instances marked the first time either player had scored two-or-more times in a contest while with Daemen.

MAN BETWEEN THE STICKS
Senior goalkeeper Arturo Bustamante (South Gate, Calif.) equaled his career-high in saves with 10 stops against Queens this past weekend. Bustamante is currently ranked 11th in the nation and leads the ECC for total saves with 62 and is ranked 29th nationally for save percentage at .797. This season, Bustamante has appeared in 11 contests and made five-or-more saves in seven past appearances.

The Wildcats will end the year with three consecutive home games, two of which come against nationally ranked opponents. Daemen will begin their homestand against No. 20 Mercy before facing defending national champions Franklin Pierce University on Oct. 30, who are currently ranked ninth nationally as well. The Blue and White will end their final homestand and the regular season against crosstown rival D'Youville University on Nov. 2.
