Wildcats Suffer 5-2 Setback To St. Lawrence

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen University men's tennis team suffered 5-2 loss to St. Lawrence University Saturday evening at Miller Tennis Center. Daemen dropped to 2-6, while St. Lawrence improved to 4-1.

The match was played under NCAA Division I/II scoring rules and the SLU won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point.

Daemen fell behind 2-0 after sophomore Alex Lumanog (Albuquerque, N.M.) suffered a 6-4, 6-3 loss to Adam Heilbronner at No. 1 singles. The Wildcats cut the lead to 2-1 after junior Juan Alvarez (Puebla, Mexico) posted a 6-1, 7-5 win over Broderick Pinto at second singles. The Saints secured the match with wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Cole Hamilton rallied for a 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 win over sophomore Rohan Chitanand (Den Haag, Neterlands) at No. 3 singles, while Ben Moolman outlasted freshman Lucas Garcia (Bogota, Columbia) at No. 4 singles. Daemen picked up its second point at No. 6 singles, where graduate student Zachary Laplante (Ottawa, Ont.) posted a 6-3, 3-6, 11-9 win over Edvin Strandberg.

#2 – Ben Moolman & Jacob David (SLU) defeat Lucas Garcia & Jayven Williamson (DAE), 6-0
