Men's Tennis Posts 7-0 Win Over Saint Vincent

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen University men's tennis team posted a 7-0 victory over Saint Vincent College this evening at Miller Tennis Center. Daemen has won three of its last four matches and improved to dropped to 5-7 on the year. Saint Vincent dropped to 6-3.

The match was played under NCAA Division I/II scoring rules and Daemen won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point.

Daemen secured the win after sophomore Alex Lumanog (Albuquerque, N.M.) won at No. 1 singles, freshman Lucas Garcia (Bogota, Columbia) won at No. 4 singles and junior Juan Alvarez (Puebla, Mexico) won at No. 2 singles to give Daemen a 4-0 lead. Lumanog defeated freshman Braden Yokopenic, 6-0, 6-0. Garcia got past freshman Brady Johnson (6-0, 6-2) and Alvarez defeated junior Matthew Sadusky (6-2, 6-0).

The Wildcats got additional singles wins from sophomore Rohan Chitanand (Den Haag, Neterlands) at No. 3, freshman Lasse Mergens (Bochum, Germany) at No. 5 and graduate student Zachary Laplante (Ottawa, Ont.) at No. 6.

Daemen is idle until next Saturday (March 23) when it opens East Coast Conference play by hosting the Unversity of the District of Columbia.
