Daemen improved to 2-7 on the year, while Alfred dropped to 2-4. A constant snow fell throughout the game the officials decided to call the game after three quarters. Daemen women's lacrosse is entering its second season as a varsity sport. Head coach Dominique Hamman returns 12 players and welcomes nine newcomers to the 2024 roster. The Wildcats finished 7-9 in their inaugural season last spring. Alfred is a NCAA Division III affiliate and a member of the Empire 8 League. Seven players recorded a point in the game for Daemen. Miranto also recorded an assist and four ground balls. Sophomores Ella Bouley (Auburn, N.Y.) and Avery Castner (Penn Yan, N.Y.) and freshman Cadence Baran (Lancaster, N.Y.) all totaled two goals and one assist. Baran also tied Miranto for the team lead in ground balls (4). Senior transfer Tatiana Wright (Stratford, Conn.) went the distance in net for the Wildcats and made three saves en route to her first win at Daemen. The Daemen defense, led by sophomores Jenna Havert (Newark, N.Y.) and Maddy Carpenter (Hilton, N.Y.), junior Gabi Accurso (Buffalo, N.Y.) and graduate student Aaliyah Deaton (Hickory, N.C.) limited Alfred to just six total shots. Sophomore Kylee Bedette netted AU's lone goal. Daemen opened the scoring just 40 seconds into the contest and the Wildcats held a 5-0 lead after one quarter and an 11-0 lead at halftime. Daemen finished with a 23-6 edge in shots. Both teams collected seven draw controls. Sophomore Kira Grzechowiak (West Seneca, N.Y.) paced the Wildcats with a team-high four draw controls. Daemen returns to action Saturday (March 23) when opens East Coast Conference play at Roberts Wesleyan University.
