Queens, which sits atop the East Coast Conference standings, moves to 12-6 overall and 5-1 in ECC play. The Wildcats fall to 5-12 overall and 0-4 in conference matches. The match was played under NCAA Division I/II scoring rules. The Knights won two of the three doubles matches and claimed the doubles point. Queens picked up the No. 3 doubles victory, before Daemen answered with a win at No. 2 doubles, as freshman Lucas Garcia (Bogota, Columbia) and graduate student Zachary Laplante posted a 6-3 win over freshman David Cerne and senior Francisco Gonzalez. Queens secured the point after senior Roni Rikkonen and freshman Tim Andersson outlasted Daemen's No. 1 doubles pairing of junior Juan Alvarez (Puebla, Mexico) and sophomore Alex Lumanog (Albuquerque, N.M.), 7-5. The Knights won all six singles matches, four in straight sets. Lumanog and junior Cameron Henricy battled at No. 2 singles, with Henricy rallying for a 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 10-6 victory. Laplante and Cerne also went to a third set at No. 6 singles. Laplante opened with a 6-4 win, before Cerne answered with a 6-1 victory. Cerne completed the comeback with a 10-6 win in set three. The Wildcats will remain in the New York City area and take on Saint Thomas Aquinas College tomorrow.
