Women's Soccer Earns Third Consecutive Win with 3-0 Decision Over St. Thomas Aquinas

SPARKILL, N.Y. – The Daemen University women's soccer team earned their first clean sheet victory of the season and third win in a row with a 3-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field.

With the win, the Wildcats improved the 3-4 on the year and 2-0 in East Coast Conference play while the Spartans remained winless at 0-5-2 and 0-1 in league play.

HIGHLIGHTS
• Junior Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) opened the scoring for Daemen in the 23rd minute as she sent a shot past the Spartans' Catalena Robinson.
• St. Thomas Aquinas peppered the Wildcats with shots for the remainder of the half, but junior goalkeeper Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) stopped all four shots she faced to keep Daemen's 1-0 lead intact.
• Out of the halftime break, Miranto received a pass from freshman Chloé Cardone (Hilton, N.Y.) and once again found the back of the net to score her second of the contest and double Daemen's advantage.
• Cardone closed out the scoring for the contest with 31 seconds left as she collected a pass from Miranto and sent the ball into the back of the net for her first collegiate goal.
• The Daemen defense limited the St. Thomas Aquinas attack to just three shots on target in the second half, all three of which were saved.
• As a team, St. Thomas Aquinas outshot Daemen, 24-11. However, the two sides were nearly even in shots on goal with the Spartans holding a slim 8-7 edge.
• Schultz earned her third win of the year with an eight save performance while Robinson made four saves in the loss. Both goalies played the full 90 minutes.
