NEW YEAR, SAME WILDCATS
The Daemen University women's soccer team begins their 2024 campaign with a pair of road tilts starting on Sept. 6 at Assumption at 2 p.m. before traveling across the Old Colony state to flace AIC on Sept 8 at 11 a.m. Last season, Daemen went 9-5-3 overall (6-1-1 ECC) compared to a 3-4-9 (1-4-6 NE10) overall record for the Greyhounds and 7-7-1 (4-6-1 NE10) for the Yellowjackets. The Wildcats also return 10 of their 11 regular starters from last season as well.
2023 RECAP
Last year under head coachÂ
Dan Dolan, the Wildcats qualified for the ECC Tournament for the third consecutive year after posting a 9-5-3 overall record and 6-1-1 mark in ECC play while putting together an 11-match unbeaten streak during the middle part of the season. Ranked as high as eighth in the East Region by the United Soccer Coaches last season, Daemen finished second in the final ECC regular season standings, the program's highest finish since joining the conference in 2013. Madita Zeitz (Malsch, Germany) and
Alyssa Diaz (Rochester, N.Y.) named to the first team,
Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) tabbed to the second team with
Brooke Amato (Grand Island, N.Y.) and
Nevada Hahn (Lancaster, N.Y.) selected to the third team. The Wildcats also nabbed two major awards with Miranto tabbed the ECC Offensive Player of the Year Carpenter named the conferences rookie of the year.Â

CHART TOPPERS
For the first time in program history, the Daemen women's soccer team was picked to finish first in the East Coast Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Wildcats earned a league-best 56 points and two first-place votes, edging out reigning ECC Tournament champions Molloy University who garnered 52 points with four first-place votes. The Lions were picked second in the poll. Mercy University was tabbed third with 48 points while Roberts Wesleyan University was picked fourth with 45 votes. Both schools also earned one first-place vote each.
ADD ANOTHER AWARD TO THE TROPHY CABINET
Reigning 2023 ECC Offensive Player of the Year
Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) earned another accolade as she became the first Wildcat to be named ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. The junior compiled one of the best statistical seasons in program history, finishing the year ranked seventh nationally in both goals per game (0.94) and points per game (2.18) while leading the Wildcats and ECC in goals (16) and points (37). She also became the first D2CCA All-American in program history during Daemen's Division II-era (2015-present), earning a spot on the third team. The North Tonawanda, N.Y. native was also named to the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Division II All-East Regional team and the 2023 ECC Offensive Player of the Year. Â In her career, Miranto has racked up 48 points (21 goals, 6 assists) and has recorded at least one point in 15 of her last 22 games dating back to the end of her freshman campaign.
ROAD WARRIORS
The Wildcats begin the year with one of the longest road swings in the country with seven consecutive road games to begin their season. The trip will span three states (Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New York) and will see the Wildcats cover 4,000 miles in travel. The seven game road swing is the longest in program history during the Division II era.
SCOUTING ASSUMPTION:
The Greyhounds were tabbed seventh in the NE10 Women's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll. Ashley Wenzel and Haleigh Ward are both back for Assumption after finishing last season tied for second in goals with three apiece. On the defensive side of the ball, center back Katherine Laboissonniere returns to Worcester, Mass., after being tabbed to the 2023 All-NE10 Third Team. She started and played in all 16 games for Assumption, helping the Greyhounds secure two clean sheet victories last season.
SERIES HISTORY:
With only two prior meetings dating back to 2022, Assumption leads the series 1-0-1. Last season, Assumption defeated Daemen, 2-0, on Sept. 1, 2023, in Amherst, N.Y. In the first meeting between the Greyhounds and Wildcats, they would tie 1-1 on Oct. 4, 2022, in Worcester, Mass.
SCOUTING AIC:
The Yellowjackets put together a 7-7-1 record last year in the NE10, falling in the quarterfinal round to Adelphi, 1-0. AIC returns only one of their three top scorers from last season with Gabrielle Williams back for the Yellowjackets after posting three goals during 2023. In net, Sara Avery made 12 starts for AIC last year, earning six of the Yellowjackets seven wins. In the NE10 Preseason Women's Soccer Coaches Poll, AIC was tabbed ninth out of 11 teams.Â

The two sides met for the first time in program history last season, with AIC winning 2-1 behind goals from Cameron Wilbur and Charlotte Bernard.
