HIGHLIGHTS A penalty kick conversion by Mercy's Hugo Martin in the 3rd minute put Mercy ahead 1-0. The Mavericks extended their lead when Mateo Bacigalupo scored in the 53rd minute, making it 2-0. Goalkeeper Dylan Delaney (Lockport, N.Y.) made several crucial saves to maintain the defensive line. Daemen had a few chances early, including a close attempt by Nolan Smith (Ridgeway, Ontario) in the 16th minute that struck the woodwork. As the half progressed, Daemen's efforts to level the score were evident, with shots by Joshua Choi (Upland, Calif.) and Sujan Rajamohan (Spencerport, N.Y.) requiring saves from Mercy's goalkeeper. The team maintained pressure but was unable to find the equalizer before halftime. The Wildcats tried to break through Mercy's defense early in the second, including a shot by Karim Salome (Logan, Utah) that was saved in the 57th minute. Daemen also had corner kicks in the 54th and 62nd minutes that it could not convert. Axel Lozoya (Santa Fe, N.M.) and Stefan Jankovic (Reykjavik, Iceland) also tested Sanchez, who managed to keep the clean sheet intact. Daemen's defense, led by Delaney in goal, stood firm against the Mavericks' pressure, making multiple saves, particularly in the latter stages of the half. Despite the efforts, the Wildcats were unable to find the back of the net. GAME NOTES Delaney played the full 90 minutes and recorded nine saves, facing 19 shots. Lozoya contributed offensively with one shot on goal from the defense Rajamohan also added one shot on goal, and Jankovic was active in the midfield, attempting two shots during the match.
