Men's Soccer Upended by Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Daemen fell to Slippery Rock 2-0 on Wednesday at James Egli Field, with the hosts scoring both goals in the second half.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • In the 69th minute, Kaden Reynolds found the back of the net with an assist from Zsombor Retfalvi, putting SRU ahead, 1-0. 
  • Later, Reynolds struck again in the 80th minute, making it 2-0. 
  • The first period began with Daemen's defense facing early pressure from SRU, who attempted several shots but failed to convert. 
  • Nolan Smith (Ridgeway, Ontario) registered the first shot for Daemen in the ninth minute, which went wide.
  • Amin Garcia's (Leganes, Spain) shot in the 22nd minute was saved, maintaining the scoreless status. 
  • Goalkeeper Dylan Delaney (Lockport, N.Y.) made a crucial save in the 31st minute to deny Aashi Pandher's attempt. 
  • The period concluded with both teams unable to break the deadlock, heading into halftime at 0-0.
  • The second period commenced with Daemen fielding a fresh lineup, but it was The Rock who seized the momentum.  
  • Despite Daemen's defensive efforts and a notable save by Delaney at the 72-minute mark, The Rock extended their lead.
  • Later, Reynolds struck again in the 80th minute, assisted by Pandher, further solidifying SRU's position. Daemen attempted to respond with a shot by Garcia, but the team was unable to convert. 

GAME NOTES
  • Delaney played a full 90 minutes and recorded three saves, facing 18 shots on goal. 
  • Garcia registered two shots, with one being on target. 
  • Smith added one shot in the match. 
  • Tim Florek (Marburg, Germany) also contributed with a shot, though it was not on target.
