Fiegel Nets First Career Goal, But Women's Soccer Falls at St. Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Saint Anselm defeated Daemen University 3-2 at Melucci Field, overcoming a strong 10-save performance by Daemen goalkeeper Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.)

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Daemen struck first in the 10th minute with Kaitlyn Wright (Geneva, N.Y.) finding the back of the net, assisted by Taylor Fiegel (Lockport, N.Y.).
  • The Hawks equalized in the 23rd minute with a goal by Nina Muir, assisted by Amarys Jimenez. 
  • St. A's capitalized on a corner opportunity, with Madison Botta scoring in the 59th minute, taking a 2-1 lead.
  • Kate Crowley added another goal for the Hawks in the 65th minute, pushing the home side's advantage to 3-1.
  • Fiegel found the net in the 89th minute, closing the gap to 3-2 as the half and match concluded.
  • Schultz made some crucial saves early against multiple shot attempts.
  • The remainder of the first half saw Daemen holding firm defensively, with Schultz making several key saves to prevent further scoring by the home team. 
  • Daemen opened the second half with attempts by Wright and Casey Keller (Rochester, N.Y.), but both shots went wide. 
  • Schultz made several key saves to keep Daemen in contention. Despite the home team's persistent attacks, Daemen's backline held strong. 
GAME NOTES
  • Schultz made 10 saves while facing 36 shots on goal. 
  • Wright scored one goal on two shots, with one of those shots being on target. 
  • Fiegel's goal was the first of her career. The sophomore also logged the first three-point performance of her career.
