BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Daemen University women's cross country team placed 11th out of 14 teams at the Canisius alumni classic in Buffalo on Saturday afternoon in the Wildcats' final event before next weekend's East Coast Conference Championships.

The Wildcats posted a team score of 305 in the race. Binghamton won with a score of 20, while Roberts Wesleyan, Detroit Mercy. SUNY Geneseo and Buffalo completed the top five in the team standings.

Each of Daemen's five point scorers finished within six seconds of each other Senior
Patsy Oberholzer (Greece, N.Y.) paced the Wildcats as she did in each of their first three races of the season. She posted a 5K time of 21:00.7 and placed 85th out of 154 runners. Sophomores
Lia Brasacchio (Victor, N.Y.) and
Kylie Piekarski (Lancaster, N.Y) had identical times of 21:01.5.

Senior
Madeline Straub (Olean, N.Y.) was just behind Daemen's top three with a 21:03.7 and Senior
Hayley Pizur (Grand Island, N.Y.) rounded out the Wildcats' scorers with a time of 21:06.0.

A trio of freshmen also took part for Daemen.
Raegan Giardini (West Clarksville, N.Y.) finished in 22:05.6 in her first collegiate race,
Grace Tag (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) posted a 23:19.1 and
Teagan Jones recorded a 25:58.6 in the first race she has completed at the collegiate level.

Christa Oates (Tonawanda, N.Y.) also participated for Daemen, finishing with a 5K time of 23:19.1 which matched Tag.

The Wildcats turn their attention to the ECC Championships on Oct. 25 beginning at 11 a.m. in Kings Park, N.Y. at Sunken Meadow State Park. Daemen finished second out of eight teams in the event last season.
