Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision at UDC

WASHINGTON, D.C.  — Daemen fell to District of Columbia 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Early in the half, Daemen faced defensive pressure, conceding a goal to Ignacio Lopez of UDC at the 14th minute, putting the Wildcats behind 1-0. 
  • Daemen managed several attempts to equalize, with Stevie Varallo (Wilson, N.Y.) and Cohen Vogel (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) both attempting shots, though neither found the net.
  • Colin Hockridge (Scarborough, Ontario) was active in goal, making crucial saves to keep the deficit at one.
  • The Wildcats had two corners in the opening 45 minutes, but despite the efforts, Daemen ended the first half trailing 1-0.
  • In the second half, Daemen generated offensive pressure but struggled to capitalize on opportunities. 
  • Yves Sisse (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Amin Garcia (Leganes, Spain) each took shots, with one attempt from Garcia hitting the post in the 54th minute. 
  • Despite a persistent offensive effort, Daemen was unable to find the back of the net.
  • Vogel received a red card at the 77th minute, and subsequent red cards were issued to Garcia and Karim Salome (Logan, Utah) with under three minutes remaining. 
  • The Firebirds maintained their narrow lead, and the match concluded with a final score of 1-0 in favor of UDC.
GAME NOTES
  • Hockridge made his first start of the season, logging four saves.
  • Salome and Vogel each managed a shot on goal, contributing to the team's offensive efforts. 
  • Garcia registered two shots, although neither was on target.
