REGULAR SEASON WRAP UP
The Daemen University women's lacrosse team will conclude the regular season portion of their schedule this week with a pair of road games. The Wildcats will start the week with an away contest across town against D'Youville at 6 p.m. in the final conference game of the year for the 'Cats. Daemen will end the regular season four days later in Orangeburg, N.Y., with a 11 a.m. tilt against No. 24 Dominican (N.Y.).
PLAYOFF OUTLOOK
Currently at 2-3 overall in conference play, the Wildcat reside in the fourth and final spot to qualify for the ECC Women's Lacrosse Championship. D'Youville is currently one spot below Daemen in the standings at 1-3 overall with a game in hand as they will play their final conference game at home against UDC on April 26. Roberts Wesleyan (5-0), Mercy (4-1) and Molloy (4-1) have all punched their tickets to the postseason and hold the remaining three spots. The winner between the Wildcats and Saints on Wednesday will determine who will clinch the final postseason spot and qualify for the ECC Women's Lacrosse Championship due to head-to-head tiebreaker. Daemen has never qualified for the postseason in program history. Â
200 LEVEL
Against Roberts Wesleyan on April 19, senior midfielder
Cameron Briggs (Buffalo, N.Y.) became the first player on the Wildcats roster this season to record 200 draw controls for their career. Spanning three schools, Briggs has recorded a team-leading 47 draw controls this season and on three occasions has recorded a season-high six (vs Walsh, at Ashland, at UDC). The Buffalo, N.Y., native notched 27 draw controls at Notre Dame College and secured the remaining 153 controls with Medaille where she started her college career. Briggs is not the only active member of the Wildcats to be closing in on 200 career draw controls as fellow senior
Katelynn Deveans (Clinton, N.Y.) is four away from 200 in her career as well.Â
BLANKED
A season-high 13 different players for the back of the net for Daemen as they earned their first shutout victory in program history with a 21-0 thrashing of the University of the District of Columbia back on April 5. The Wildcats are the first ECC team this year to secure a shutout as well. Senior midfielderÂ
Cameron Briggs (Buffalo, N.Y.) led Daemen with five total points on three goals and two assists. The Buffalo, N.Y., native also helped Daemen on the defensive side of the ball as she collected a team-best four ground balls to pair with six draw controls and two caused turnovers. Fellow seniorÂ

Mikayla Myer (Geneva, N.Y.) each notched a hat trick of their own in the winning effort. Junior midfielderÂ
Avery Castner (Penn Yan, N.Y.) tallied a season-high three assists while on defense, junior defenderÂ
Jenna Havert (Newark, N.Y.) snagged three ground balls and scored her second career goal as well. The Wildcats jumped ahead to a 6-0 lead in the first eight minutes of the contest, paced by a pair of goals from sophomore attackerÂ
Cadence Baran (Lancaster, N.Y.). Daemen added on four more goals before the opening stanza ended to start the running clock and command a 10-0 lead after 15 minutes of action. The Wildcats never slowed down the remainder of the way en route to their 21-0 victory as Daemen ended the contest with a 42-4 advantage in shots and 24-11 edge in ground balls.
HELPING HAND
Sophomore attacker
Shannen Calandra (Rome, N.Y.) currently leads the Wildcats and ranks third in the ECC for total assists with 23. The Rome, N.Y., is also third in the conference in assists per game with an average of 1.77 through 13 games. This season, Calandra has notched a season-high five assists twice, doing so against Lake Erie (Feb. 28) and St. Thomas Aquinas (March 22).Â
SCOUTING D'YOUVILLE (4-8, 1-3 ECC)
The Saints had their late comeback bid spoiled in their last game as they fell on the road to Molloy, 16-11, on April 19. Madison Handley currently leads the Saints in goals (43) and total points (53) while Lauren Parker has won a team-best 79 draw controls, which also ranks second in the conference. In net, Brinn Stworzydlak has started all 11 games for the Saints and amassed 132 saves and .462 save percentage.Â

D'Youville is 2-0 against Daemen and has won both meetings by three-or-less goals.Â
SCOUTING DOMINICAN (N.Y.) (14-1, 8-0 CACC)
The Chargers are riding a 13 game winning streak and defeated D'Youville, 22-5, in their last game on April 17. Grace DeStasio leads Dominican (N.Y.) in goals 66 goals while Madelyn Grella has amassed a NCAA-best 123 points off 59 goals and 67 assists. Her 123 points rank. On defense, Jenna Rigo has collected 39 ground balls and 38 caused turnovers while in net, Kristinamarie Kaszovitz has tallied 64 saves and a .458 save percentage.Â

The Chargers won the lone meeting between the sides back on Feb. 24, 2024.Â
