ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – In their final game of the 2025 regular season, the Daemen University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 24 Dominican (N.Y.), 18-4, in intercollegiate women's lacrosse action Sunday morning at Mary Eileen O'Brien Field.
With the win, the Chargers, who will be the number one seed in the CACC Women's Lacrosse Championship, ended the year with an overall record of 16-1 while the Wildcats finished at 5-10.
Erica Ortiz led Dominican (N.Y.) in goals (6) and draw controls (9) while her teammate Caitlin Costello tallied a game-high five assists and match Ortiz in points with six herself. Alivia Chieca caused a team-best three turnovers while in net Kristinamarie Kaszovitz made three saves and snagged four ground balls across 41:18 of action to earn the win.
Junior
Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) tallied a team-best two points off a goal and an assist. Fellow junior
Jenna Havert (Newark, N.Y.) tied her season-high in ground balls with four and caused a turnover while in net, freshman
Molly Evans (Fulton, N.Y.) made a season-high 19 saves in the loss.
Daemen and Dominican (N.Y.) exchanged goals to start the contest with senior
Katelynn Deveans (Clinton, N.Y.) putting Daemen on the scoreboard at the 11:53 mark of the first quarter. The host Chargers outscored the Wildcats 11-1 for the remainder of the first half and entered the locker room with a 12-2 lead.
The 'Cats struck first to begin the second half as senior
Cameron Briggs (Buffalo, N.Y.) collected a pass from Miranto and found the back of the net just 16 seconds into the third quarter. Less than a minute later, the Chargers answered the Daemen marker, but the 'Cats had another response as Miranto found an open pocket of space and sent the ball past Kaszovitz for the 'Cats fourth goal of the game. Dominican (N.Y.) scored the final five goals of the game to seal the win.
The Chargers ended the contest with a 48-10 edge in shots and 22-8 lead in ground balls. Dominican (N.Y.) finished the day 15-of-17 on clears compared to 14-of-19 for Daemen.
GAME NOTES
• Today marked the second meeting between Daemen and Dominican (N.Y.).
• Evan's 19 saves are the third most all-time for saves in a single game.
• Daemen has now played three opponents ranked within the top 25 nationally this season.
• Havert collected three-or-more ground balls for the seventh time this season.
