AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen University men's volleyball redshirt freshman
Patrick Mullen (Farmingdale, N.J.) has been named the First Point/Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after helping the Wildcats to a 2-0 weekend with a pair of wins over FDU.
Mullen totaled 24 kills (3.0 kills/set) over the weekend, tallying double-digit kills in both wins and marking the first time this season that he hit in the double figures in back-to-back games. After posting 10 kills on 19 attacks for a .368 hitting percentage on Saturday, the redshirt freshman right side posted a career-high 14 kills in Sunday's win on a career-high 31 attack attempts. Mullen finished the weekend with nine digs, four total blocks, two aces and two assists.
In his redshirt freshman season, Mullen ranks third on the team offensively, totaling 124 kills (2.14 kills/set) for a .198 hitting percentage. He also ranks third on the team with 18 aces, and is tied for fourth on the team with 28 total blocks (0.48 blocks/set).
The Wildcats return to Lumsden Gymnasium this weekend to host league-leaders Saint Francis on Friday and Saturday (April 11-12) at 7 PM and 4 PM, respectively.
