GREENSBURG, PA. – Facing a nationally ranked opponent for the second time this season, the Daemen University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 18 Seton Hill, 15-5, in intercollegiate women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Good Field.
With the win, the Griffins improved to 8-4 while the Wildcats dropped to 4-7.
Sophomore attacker
Shannen Calandra (Rome, N.Y.) accounted for two of the five Daemen goals and notched a team-high three points. Junior midfielder
Ella Bouley (Auburn, N.Y.) and sophomore attackers
Cadence Baran (Lancaster, N.Y.) and
Maria Salvo (Clarence, N.Y.) tallied the remaining three goals for Daemen. Sophomore midfielder
Mikayla Myer (Geneva, N.Y.) led the Daemen defense with four ground balls and four draw controls while in net, freshman
Molly Evans (Fulton, N.Y.) made a team-high four saves in 37:44 of action.
Grace Agnello tallied a game-high four goals along with five total points and six ground balls to help the hosts winning efforts. Mila Udovicic collected a game-high six total points off two goals and a game-high four assists along with eight draw controls. In net, Allison Hathaway started the game and earned the win for the Griffins in just 30:00 minutes of action.
Down 3-0 late in the first, the Wildcats cracked the Griffins defense for the first time in the afternoon as Baran found the back of the net through contact to get the Wildcats on the board.
Seton Hill rattled off seven unanswered goals after the Daemen tally to enter halftime with a 10-1 lead.
Out of halftime, the Wildcats and Griffins traded goals throughout the third quarter with Daemen scoring two of the final three goals of the stanza courtesy of Salvo and Calandra. Each side scored once more in the fourth quarter to end the afternoon.
Seton Hill ended the contest with a 33-18 advantage in shots but only edged out Daemen in draw controls, 13-11.
GAME NOTES
• Today marked the first meeting between the two schools in women's lacrosse. Head coach
Emily Bitka also served as an assistant coach at Seton Hill during the 2024 season before coming to Daemen.
• Calandra scored two-or-more goals in a game for the third time this season.
• Evans made her first start since March 20 against Saint Anselm.
• Today marked the eighth game against a ranked team in program history.

Daemen returns home for the first time in three weeks to face Molloy. Opening draw from Coyer Field is set for 3 p.m. on April 12.
