Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) scored twice, including the game-winner in the 79th minute, and added an assist for a five-point performance. Lily Macfarlane (Murcott, England) tied the contest at 2-2 in the 55th minute. Miranto's first goal came in the 22nd minute, leveling the match at 1-1. Goalkeeper Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) made several crucial saves to help Daemen's defense hold firm, preserving the narrow lead through the final whistle. The Wildcats dropped a 1-0 decision to Assumption in their season opener after the Greyhounds scored in the 18th minute. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Schultz was named East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. She recorded a .857 save percentage, a 1.50 goals-against average, and made 18 saves in two games over the weekend, finishing with a 1-1 record. Schultz logged five saves in the win over AIC. She also posted a 13-save performance against Assumption. The senior earned an ECC weekly honor for the ninth time in her career. Schultz was named Defensive Player of the Week three times last season and took home the honor five times during the 2023 campaign. PRIMER PERFORMERS Miranto and Lily Macfarlane were selected as Prime Performers of the Week by the ECC Monday. Miranto led the Wildcats with five points in the win over AIC, scoring two goals and adding an assist. It was the 10th multi-goal game and 11th game-winning goal of her career. This also marks her ninth career ECC weekly honor. Macfarlane registered a goal and an assist in the win, marking her first career game with three or more points and her first collegiate goal. The junior earned an ECC weekly accolade for the first time in her career. SCOUTING SAINT MICHAEL'S (3-0) The Purple Knights have started 3-0, defeating Millersville (3-2), Chestnut Hill (2-1), and Post (3-0). Scarlett Brooks leads the team with five goals after scoring in all three matches, including two-goal performances against Chestnut Hill and Post. Bella DelVecchio has logged four points (1G, 2A). Chloe Laizer has started all three games in goal, posting a .750 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average.. SERIES HISTORY The Wildcats and Purple Knights have only played three times, with Daemen holding a 0-2-1 record in the series. The Wildcats fell 2-1 on the road last season, with sophomore Chloé Cardone (Hilton, N.Y.) scoring for Daemen. The teams played to a 1-1 tie in 2017, and Saint Michael's won the inaugural matchup 2-1 in 2016. UP NEXT Daemen is back home Tuesday, hosting Bentley for a 3 p.m. contest.
