Men's Soccer Bested By Goldey-Beacom

AMHERST, N.Y. — Daemen University (1-4) fell to Goldey-Beacom College (1-3) 2-1, after conceding two second-half goals on Sunday at Royal Park.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Daemen broke the deadlock at 44:02 when Larry Noel (Nassau, Bahamas) scored with an assist from Yves Sisse (Phoenix, Ariz.), giving the home team a 1-0 lead just before halftime. Sisse dribbled down the field and played a low cross to Noel, who fired a shot into the back of the net.
  • Goldey-Beacom's Sam Ball scored in the 74th minute, putting the visitors level at 1-1.
  • The Lightning took the lead with Sean Dickie's goal in the 82nd minute when he bent in a free-kick, securing a 2-1 advantage over the Wildcats.
  • Daemen's Cohen Vogel (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) tested Goldey-Beacom's goalkeeper Jamel Yasin early with a shot just 17 seconds into the match, setting a quick pace.
  • In the 30th minute, Dylan Delaney (Lockport, N.Y.) made a crucial save for the Wildcats, stopping a bottom-center shot from Goldey-Beacom's Sam Ball to keep the score level.
  • The Wildcats earned their first corner two minutes into the second half, but they could not convert the opportunity into a goal.
  • Sisse fired a shot in the 49th minute, but it missed to the right.
  • Noel also had an opportunity in the 53rd minute, ripping a shot that got stopped by the keeper.
  • Jonathan Lopez-Leblanc (Centennial, Colo.) ripped a shot off target in the 69th minute, and Thomas Wikan (Inderøy, Norway) followed three minutes later, pushing his shot to the right.
  • Daemen faced a setback when Lopez-Leblanc received a red card at 78:27, leaving the team a man down.
  • The Wildcats continued to push despite being down a man, as Noel had a chance for another goal in the 80th minute, but he fired his shot off target.
  • Daemen also had a corner in the 87th minute, but it could not capitalize. 
GAME NOTES
  • Noel scored the team's only goal, finishing the match with two shots on goal from three total attempts.
  • Delaney recorded four saves over 90 minutes, facing 11 shots on goal.
  • Sisse added an assist, logging his first point as a Wildcat.
