Men's Soccer Defeated By Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, N.H. — Daemen (1-5-0) fell to Franklin Pierce (2-1-1) 6-1 at Sodexo Field, with Stevie Varallo (Wilson, N.Y.) scoring the Wildcats' lone goal.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Varallo scored in the 89th minute after Axel Lozoya's (Santa Fe, N.M.) long ball, floating a shot over the goalkeeper for Daemen's lone goal.
  • Franklin Pierce took an early lead with a goal by Guillermo Avendano in the 3rd minute, assisted by Guillermo Rios.
  • Joao Araujo made it 2-0 for the Ravens in the 16th minute.
  • FPU extended its lead to 3-0 with Avendano's second goal of the first half in the 19th minute.
  • Goalkeeper Dylan Delaney (Lockport, N.Y.) kept Daemen in the match with key saves in the 4th, 8th, and 12th minutes.
  • Avendano added to Franklin Pierce's lead with two goals, scoring in the 53rd minute and again in the 58th minute.
  • In the 75th minute, Delaney saved a bottom-center shot.
  • Rui Costa added another goal for the Ravens in the 86th minute to increase the score to 6-0.
  • Stefan Jankovic (Reykjavik, Iceland) had a chance in the 46th minute, firing a shot wide.
  • Lozoya also ripped a shot that was saved in the 79th minute.
GAME NOTES
  • Delaney recorded 12 saves in the match, facing 31 shots on target.
  • Varallo's goal marked the first of his career.
  • Lozoya contributed with an assist, also managing one shot on goal.
  • Lozoya's assist was his first career point.
  • Cristopher Vasquez (Sunnyside, N.Y.) made one save during his 13 minutes in goal, allowing one goal.
