Men's Soccer Blanked by St. Thomas Aquinas

AMHERST, N.Y. — Daemen (1-6, 0-1 ECC) was defeated by St. Thomas Aquinas (2-2-2, 1-0-0 ECC) with a score of 4-0 on Saturday at Royal Park.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The first half saw St. Thomas Aquinas take an early lead, with Kevon Evans scoring in the fifth minute, assisted by Francisco Degiorgi, making the score 1-0.
  • The Spartans extended their lead to 2-0 in the 18th minute with a goal from Uhunoma Fredrick-Ilekhuoba, assisted by Evans.
  • STAC capitalized on scoring opportunities in the second half, with Sebastian Ortega finding the net in the 65th minute, assisted by Evans, followed by a goal from Joaquim Cardoso in the 73rd minute, securing the 4-0 win.
  • Daemen had multiple attempts in the first half, including a shot by Rayane Baitiche (Thionville, France) in the first minute, but he could not find the back of the net.
  • Larry Noel (Nassau, Bahamas) also fired two shots wide in the opening half.
  • Daemen's goalkeeper, Dylan Delaney (Lockport, N.Y.), made several critical saves to keep the score within reach in the first.
  • The Wildcats had four corner kicks in the first, but they could not capitalize.
  • The second half began with Daemen and STAC exchanging fouls and defensive plays.
  • Delaney made two more big saves at the start of the second.
  • Despite Daemen's efforts, including shots from Axel Lozoya (Santa Fe, N.M.) and Stevie Varallo (Wilson, N.Y.), they could not put one in.
  • The Wildcats continued to press with shots from Baitiche and Amin Garcia (Leganes, Spain).
GAME NOTES
  • Delaney recorded seven saves while facing 20 shots in the match.
  • Baitiche was active offensively, tallying three shots and putting two on target.
  • Noel also fired three shots in total.
  • Lozoya added to the offensive attempts with one shot that was on goal.
