LAST TIME OUT Daemen fell 4-0 to St. Thomas Aquinas in its ECC opener last Saturday. The Spartans scored two goals in the opening 18 minutes to pull ahead 2-0. STAC capitalized on scoring opportunities in the second half, with Sebastian Ortega finding the net in the 65th minute, assisted by Evans, followed by a goal from Joaquim Cardoso in the 73rd minute, securing the 4-0 win. Rayane Baitiche (Thionville, France) in the first minute, but he could not find the back of the net. Larry Noel (Nassau, Bahamas) also fired two shots wide in the opening half. Axel Lozoya (Santa Fe, N.M.) and Stevie Varallo (Wilson, N.Y.) fired shots in the second half, but they could not put one in. Goalkeeper Dylan Delaney (Lockport, N.Y.) recorded seven saves while facing 20 shots in the match. RACKING UP THE SAVES Through the first seven games, Delaney leads the East Coast Conference in saves (40) and saves per game (6.00). The freshman stopped a season-high 12 shots against Saint Michael's last week. He also made nine saves against Saint Anselm (Sept. 12) and stopped five shots against Saint Michael's (Sept. 10). LEADING THE WAY Varallo has logged four points with a goal and two assists, and is tied with Larry Noel (Nassau, Bahamas) for the team lead. Varallo's two helpers lead the squad, while Noel is the team leader in goals. CAREER FIRSTS Varallo scored his first career goal in Wednesday's contest, and Lozoya's assist marked his first career point. Varallo joined Selim Ozleplebici (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), Thomas Wikan (Inderøy, Norway), and Tim Florek (Marburg, Germany) as Wildcats who have netted their first collegiate goal this season. SCOUTING LOCK HAVEN (2-3-1) The Bald Eagles are coming off a 3-0 loss at Millersville last Saturday. LHU earned a 4-2 victory at home vs. Shippensburg last Wednesday. Kade Black leads the squad in goals (2) and is tied for the team lead in points (4) with Danny Ogan, who has logged a goal and two helpers. Ethan Black has started all six games between the pipes, SERIES HISTORY The Bald Eagles lead the series with a 3-1-1 record. The teams met last season in Lock Haven, Pa., where the Wildcats earned a 2-1 victory.
