AMHERST, N.Y. -- Daemen University women's volleyball freshman Keira Mullen (Farmingdale, N.J.) has been named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for week three of the women's volleyball season, the league announced on Monday afternoon. Mullen is the first Daemen player to earn a women's volleyball weekly award this season.

In Daemen's 2-2 weekend at the Wildcat Regional Invitational, Mullen led the Wildcats offensively over four games, totaling 63 kills (3.93 kills/set) over 16 sets while hitting .281 on the weekend. Mullen was the only Daemen player to hit in the double-digits in each match and posted a career-high 19 kills in the Wildcats' 3-0 win over Franklin Pierce in the second match of the weekend. She notched her first career double-double (kills-digs) in the first match on Friday, totaling 14 kills and 10 digs in the loss to Holy Family.

On Saturday, the freshman outside hitter totaled 12 kills in Daemen's 2-3 loss to Adelphi but rebounded with a resounding team-high 18 kills for a career-high .483 hitting percentage as the Wildcats topped host Wilmington 3-1 in the final match of the weekend. Mullen finished the weekend adding 22 digs, seven total blocks and six service aces to her stat line.

Mullen has made quite the impact already in her freshman campaign, ranking second on the team offensively with 119 kills (2.9 kills/set) while adding 22 total blocks (0.54/set), good for third on the team, 32 digs and nine aces.

The Wildcats come into this weekend's ECC matches with a 4-7 overall record. Daemen will host Molloy on Saturday at 1 PM in their conference opener and wrap up the weekend with an 11 AM match against Queens at Lumsden Gymnasium.
