Women's Soccer Wraps Up Homestand Wednesday

WRAPPING UP THE HOMESTAND
The Daemen University women's soccer team concludes its six-game homestand with a non-conference match against ECC rival Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday evening. The teams will face off again next Wednesday (Oct. 1) in Rochester for an ECC contest.

LAST TIME OUT
Daemen downed St. Thomas Aquinas 3-0 in its ECC opener last Saturday. Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) scored twice, including the game-winning goal for the Wildcats. Macayla Hansen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) also scored, netting her first career goal. Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) recorded her first shutout of the season and the 14th of her career.

MIRANTO TABBED OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Miranto was named the East Coast Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. The senior tallied four goals in two games last week, finding the back of the net twice in wins over Bentley and St. Thomas Aquinas. She also scored the game-winning goal in each contest. The forward has three multi-goal games this season. Her two game-winners bring her total to three this season and 13 in her career. Miranto now has 92 career points, closing in on becoming the fourth player in program history to reach 100 career points.

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Hansen and Schultz were named to the ECC Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. Hansen logged three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in the two wins last week. She notched her first career point with an assist during the win over Bentley, then scored her first career goal in the victory over STAC. Schultz posted a 2-0 record, a 0.53 GAA, and a .900 save percentage last week. The senior made nine saves in the victory over Bentley, stopping six shots in the first half and three in the second to secure the win.

BETWEEN THE PIPES
Schultz currently leads the East Coast Conference in saves (40), saves per game (8.00), and save percentage (.889). She is also tied for eighth nationally in saves and saves per game. Schultz has recorded two games with 13 saves this season, including the contest against Saint Michael's and the season opener against Assumption. She stopped nine shots in the win over Bentley last week. Schultz has earned ECC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season.

STARTING STRONG
Miranto sits first in the ECC in goals (6) and points (13), having also logged one assist. She is tied for fifth nationally in goals and tied for eighth in points. The forward has recorded two-goal performances against St. Thomas Aquinas, Bentley, and American International. Additionally, Lily Macfarlane (Murcott, England) is third in the ECC in assists (3), while Kaitlin Mettler (Royalton, N.Y.) and Ava Thompson (East Amherst, N.Y.) are tied for fourth (2).
 
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN (3-1-1)
The Redhawks are coming off a 3-1 win over Staten Island in their ECC opener last Saturday. Roberts has also earned non-conference wins over Thomas More and Pace. Mackenzie Hagen is tied with Kara Choate for the team lead in goals (3), while Hagen also leads the squad in points (7). Cami Brescia has logged a team-best three assists. Mia Tyndell (1-1-1, 2.00 GAA, .769 SV%) and Rebecca Hoffman (2-0, 1.00 GAA, .500 SV%) have split time between the pipes.

SERIES HISTORY
The series currently sits at a deadlock with the teams holding a 12-12-5 record. The Wildcats are unbeaten in the previous five meetings (4-0-1). Daemen won both contests last season, defeating the Redhawks 5-1 in Rochester during a non-conference battle, then taking a 2-0 win at home in ECC action.

The Wildcats will hit the road for the first time on Saturday, heading to Post for a 1 p.m. contest.
