OLEAN, N.Y. -- In a tough fought battle against an NCAA Div. I opponent at their second match of the weekend, the Daemen University men's tennis team dropped a 2-5 decision against St. Bonaventure on the road on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats fall to 0-2 in their final match of the fall season. 

The Wildcats clocked a victory at No. 2 doubles this afternoon, with the duo of redshirt junior Lasse Mergens (Bochum, Germany) and freshman Alex Hnida Marin (Mallorca, Spain) defeating St. Bonaventure's Salvador Rallin and Vicente Panaigua, 6-3, for Daemen's lone doubles victory. The Bonnies took No. 1 doubles (6-0) and No. 3 doubles (6-3) to earn the first point of the match. 

Daemen took two of the six singles matches this afternoon, with Mergens collecting a thrilling three-set (7-6 (8-6), 1-6, 10-3) win over SBU's Beneditkas Verkovskis at fourth singles. Junior Vondin Henderson (Tonawanda, N.Y.) defeated Jonah Lowe, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 6 singles. Hnida Marin battled at No. 2 singles and took his match to three sets but could not overcome Rallin, falling 4-6, 6-2, 10-8. Sophomore Mitch Pollack (Winnipeg, Man.) also forced a third set but fell in his third set tiebreak (5-7, 6-1, 10-5) in his battle for No. 5 singles. Senior Lucas Garcia (Bogota, Columbia) battled (4-6, 5-7) at third singles. Playing at top singles for the second straight match, freshman Li'Am Cohen (Jerusalem, Israel) fell (0-6, 1-6).
