Daemen Erases Two-Goal Deficit but Falls to CSI

AMHERST, N.Y. — Daemen erased an early two-goal deficit, but the College of Staten Island regained the lead and won 5-2 on Saturday at Dolphins Soccer Park.

The Wildcats totaled 14 shots and four shots on goal, while Staten Island had 21 shots, 12 on frame.


HIGHLIGHTS
  • CSI scored twice early to take a two-goal lead. Yair Roman netted the Dolphins' first in the second minute. Koray Arslan followed a minute later.
  • Yves Sisse (Phoenix, Ariz.) scored for the Wildcats in the 32nd minute off a Niko Ellie assist, making it 2-1.
  • The Dolphins retook the lead, 3-2, in the 61st minute with a goal from Peterson Larose.
  • CSI added two later in the second half, scoring in the 77th and 88th minutes.
  • Senior Fabrizzio Jaramillo (Lynwood, Calif.) tied the game at 2-2 in the 53rd minute when Stefan Jankovic (Reykjavik, Iceland) headed the ball to him, and he finished off a shot.
  • Jankovic had the Wildcats' first chance in the fifth minute, firing a shot that got saved.
  • Karim Salome (Logan, Utah) had his attempt saved in the 13th minute. Sincere Noble (Baltimore, Md.) put one wide shortly after.
  • Afonso Abreu (Leiria, Portugal), Amin Garcia (Leganes, Spain), and Jaramillo each had shots blocked later in the half.
  • Goalie Colin Hockridge (Scarborough, Ontario) kept the Wildcats within range with a save on Emmanuel Kambouris in the 23rd minute, then added stops on Naim Bakere and Feyisope Osifeso during a Staten Island push from 37:18 to 41:27.
  • In the second half, Sisse got a look in the 51st minute, putting it high right.
  • Keegan Herrmann (Wilson, N.Y.) ripped a shot in the box in the 59th minute, but a Dolphins defender got a foot on to block it.
  • Salome fired another shot that went over the crossbar in the 78th minute.
GAME NOTES
  • Sisse's goal was his first as a Wildcat. He recorded two shots, with one on frame.
  • Jaramillo scored on one of his two shots and put one attempt on goal.
  • Jankovic recorded an assist and put his lone shot on goal.
  • Hockridge made seven saves in 90 minutes.
  • The Wildcats recorded 14 shots, firing four on target.
  • Daemen logged six corner kicks with two in the first half and four in the second.
