Wildcats Defeated By Staten Island, 1-0

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Daemen (2-8-1, 1-3 ECC) dropped a tight 1-0 decision at the College of Staten Island (2-5, 1-2 ECC) on Saturday.

The Wildcats took 12 of their 14 shots after halftime and put seven shots on goal overall. Staten Island scored the only goal in the first half, while the Wildcats finished with a 7-2 edge in shots on goal.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Riley Hammond scored off a Mia Cole assist at 29:48 to put CSI ahead 1-0.
  • Daemen logged two shots in the first half, with Taylor Fiegel (Lockport, N.Y.) putting one wide in the ninth minute and Ava Thompson (East Amherst, N.Y.) having one saved in the 27th.
  • Rylee Kumer (Ambridge, Pa.) made a save at the 1:34 mark to deny CSI.
  • The Wildcats offense turned it up in the second, outshooting the Dolphins 12-4, including 6-0 in shots on goal.
  • Lily Macfarlane forced a save in the 50th minute.
  • The Wildcats followed with a corner and four more shots through the 59th minute, including shots from Kaitlin Mettler (Royalton, N.Y.) and Chloé Cardone (Hilton, N.Y.) that were saved.
  • Daemen kept pushing, with Fiegel, Cardone, Macfarlane, and Mettler all taking attempts in the closing stretch.
  • Macfarlane and Mettler each put late shots on frame before Fiegel's 88:55 effort went wide.
  • The Wildcats had another corner kick in the 88th minute, but they couldn't capitalize.

  • Cardone took four shots, putting two on frame.
  • Fiegel also recorded four shots.
  • Mettler recorded three shots with two on target.
  • Macfarlane put both of her shots on frame.
  • Kumer made one save in 90 minutes.
  • Daemen logged 14 shots, putting seven on target.
  • The Wildcats had two corners, both in the second half.
