Daemen Hosts Rival D'Youville Wednesday, Queens Saturday for Senior Day

RIVALRY GAME AND SENIOR DAY
The Daemen men's soccer team (1-8-2, 1-3 ECC) plays two big ECC games this week. Daemen hosts rival D'Youville on Wednesday evening before welcoming Queens for senior day on Saturday. The Wildcats will honor Nolan Smith (Ridgeway, Ontario), Stefan Jankovic (Reykjavík, Iceland), Jordan Nobe (Honolulu, Hawaii), Fabrizzio Jaramillo (Lynwood, Calif.), Amin Garcia (Leganes, Spain), Yves Sisse (Phoenix, Ariz.), Tim Florek (Marburg, Germany), Karim Salome (Logan, Utah), Colin Hockridge (Scarborough, Ontario), and Ashley Njao (Nairobi, Kenya) before the game.

LAST TIME OUT
Daemen erased an early two-goal deficit, but the College of Staten Island regained the lead and won 5-2 on Saturday at Dolphins Soccer Park. The Wildcats totaled 14 shots and four shots on goal, while Staten Island had 21 shots, 12 on frame.CSI scored twice early to take a two-goal lead. Yair Roman netted the Dolphins' first in the second minute. Koray Arslan followed a minute later. Sisse scored for the Wildcats in the 32nd minute off a Niko Elie (Auckland, New Zealand) assist, making it 2-1. The Dolphins retook the lead, 3-2, in the 61st minute with a goal from Peterson Larose. CSI added two later in the second half, scoring in the 77th and 88th minutes. Jaramillo tied the game at 2-2 in the 53rd minute when Jankovic headed the ball to him, and he finished off a shot. Jankovic had the Wildcats' first chance in the fifth minute, firing a shot that got saved. Salome had his attempt saved in the 13th minute. Sincere Noble (Baltimore, Md.) put one wide shortly after. In the second half, Sisse got a look in the 51st minute, putting it high right. Keegan Herrmann (Wilson, N.Y.) ripped a shot in the box in the 59th minute, but a Dolphins defender got a foot on to block it. Hockridge made seven saves in 90 minutes.

SPREADING THE LOVE
The Wildcats have many contributors offensively. Nine different players have recorded a goal this season. Actionally, 14 different players have logged a point. The team has logged 38 points with 13 goals and 12 assists thus far.

CAREER FIRSTS
Several Wildcats have logged career firsts this season. Sisse notched his first goal with Daemen against Staten Island while Hernandez registered his first goal as a Wildcat against Mercy. Salome netted his first career goal against Salem, while Selim Ozleplebici (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) scored his first against Monroe. Noble scored his first career goal in the season opener against West Liberty. Christian Baker (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Nobe, Herrmann, and Smith have all logged their first career point with assists.

NEW GUYS LEADING THE WAY
Abreu has posted a team-high seven points with three goals and an assist. He scored his second goal of the season against Roberts Wesleyan. The junior transfer now leads the team in points and goals. Noble scored his second goal of the season at Saint Anselm and tied for second on the team in goals.F
SCOUTING D'YOUVILLE (4-4-4, 2-1-2 ECC)
The Saints are coming off a 2-2 tie at St. Thomas Aquinas last Saturday after defeating Roberts Wesleyan at home last Wednesday (Sept. 30). D'Youville also earned an ECC win over UDC (1-0) on Sept. 23. Ethan Robinson is the team leader in goals (4) and points (9), also having one assist.  Omar Daoudi has seven points with three goals and one assist. Shawn Richardson also has three goals, while Lennox Zapel has five points, two goals, and an assist.  Goalie Matthew Solorio has started 11 games, logging a 4-3-3 record, a 1.33 goals-against average, and a .636 save percentage.

SERIES HISTORY
Daemen is 7-2 against D'Youville.  Last year the Wildcats fell 4-1 on the road. D'Youville beat Daemen for the first time, 3-1, in 2024.
SCOUTING QUEENS (8-3-1, 2-1 ECC)
The Knights are coming off a 3-0 win at the University of the District of Columbia last Saturday after falling to Franklin Pierce in a non-conference tilt last Wednesday (Sept. 30). Queens also earned an ECC win over Roberts Wesleyan (3-0) on Sept. 19. Tommy Gunn leads the squad in goals (6) and points (15), also having three assists. Keithlend Cesar has notched five goals and three assists for 13 points. Bradyn Brown has logged a team-leading five. Goalkeeper Stian Haugland has logged a 7-2-0 record, a .742 save percentage, and a 0.90 goals-against average.

SERIES HISTORY
Queens leads the all-time series 10-2 and has won five of the last six meetings. Last season, the Knights won 4-1 at Royal Park.

Following Saturday's game, Daemen will have 11 days before its next match, hosting the University of the District of Columbia on Oct. 21 at 3 p.m.
