Women's Track & Field Wraps Up Indoor Season at ECC Championships

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Daemen women's track and field team concluded its indoor season at the East Coast Conference Indoor Championships on Sunday at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Complex.

The Wildcats came in sixth place (34 points) out of 11 teams at the meet, logging 14 top-10 finishes, including five top-five results. Roberts Wesleyan was crowned ECC Champion for the women and the men. 

Julia Petry (Batavia, N.Y.) and Kristen Oliver (Massena, N.Y.) earned First Team All-ECC Honors as top-four finishers in events. Patsy Oberholzer (Greece, N.Y.), Kylie Piekarski (Lancaster, N.Y.), Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.), Carli Quinlan (Rochester, N.Y.), and Petry also garnered Second Team All-ECC honors after placing in the top eight.

 HIGHLIGHTS 
  • Schultz finished seventh in the 60m hurdles. She came in ninth in the preliminaries with a time of 9.77 seconds before improving to 9.53 seconds in the finals for seventh. 
  • The Wildcats' distance medley relay team of Raegan Giardini (West Clarksville, N.Y.), Grace Gominiak (Darien Center, N.Y.), Grace Tag (North Tonawanda, N.Y.), and Madeline Straub (Olean, N.Y.) finished in fourth place with a time of 4:21.15.
  • In the 5000m, Oberholzer logged a fifth-place result, crossing the finish line in 19:11.09. Piekarski came in one spot behind her, posting a personal-best time of 19:38.64.
  • Oberholzer also finished sixth in the 3000m, posting a time of 10:54.08.
  • Mia Wright (Liverpool, N.Y.) took ninth in the 400m dash, finishing with a personal-best time of 1:01.30.
  • Daemen's 4x400 relay team of Skylar Savage (Attica, N.Y.) , Lia Brasacchio (Victor, N.Y.), Straub, and Wright placed fifth, crossing the finish in 4:13.65.
  • In the throw pit, Oliver placed fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 15.15m. Petry scored points for the Wildcats, finishing in seventh place with a toss of 13.35m. Rounding out the top-ten finishers was Elizabeth Bentley (Belmont, N.Y.) in ninth with a launch of 12.50m.
  • Petry also took fourth in the shotput with a throw of 11.35m. Quinlan placed eighth with a 9.85m launch, while Alana Cawthon placed ninth with a 9.81m toss.
  • Savage placed 10th in the long jump, leaping 5.15m.
  • D'Naesha Quicksey (Buffalo, N.Y.) logged a 10th-place result in the triple jump with a 10.10m jump.
