The Wildcats' defense was effective in the second and third quarters, allowing no goals and building a strong lead. Despite a late push by the Oilers with three goals in the fourth quarter, Daemen maintained its advantage, thanks in part to a crucial goal in the final quarter. IMPACT PLAYERS Maria Salvo (Clarence, N.Y.) led the effort for Daemen with two goals, including the game-winner, on three shots. Shannen Calandra (Rome, N.Y.) contributed significantly by scoring once and adding an assist, finishing with two shots on goal. Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) and Mikayla Myer (Geneva, N.Y.) each found the back of the net, with Miranto's goal being unassisted. Jenna Havert (Newark, N.Y.) led the defensive efforts with three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Miranto caused two turnovers while Sam Branner (Ontario, N.Y.) scooped up three ground balls and recorded one caused turnover. Molly Evans (Fulton, N.Y.) made five saves in goal while facing 14 shots to help secure the victory. INSIDE THE BOX SCORE The first quarter began with Daemen establishing an early advantage. Salvo won the initial draw control, setting up Adison Pollutro (West Seneca, N.Y.) to score the opening goal, assisted by Havert at 11:22. Despite a yellow card and a brief woman-down situation, Daemen maintained its composure. Findlay equalized with a woman-up goal by Carrigan McCormack. The Wildcats answered back with a goal from Sadie Schlesselman (Lancaster, N.Y.), assisted by fellow freshman Ava Smith (Hamburg, N.Y.) at 2:35. Evans contributed with key saves, ensuring Daemen finished the quarter leading 2-1. In the second, the Wildcats capitalized on a key opportunity in the second quarter when Calandra scored at 7:30, extending the lead to 3-1. Ella Bouley's (Aburn, N.Y.) draw control shortly after further sustained Daemen's momentum. Despite a series of turnovers, the Wildcats maintained their defensive pressure, with Evans making a crucial save at 3:34. The quarter concluded with Daemen leading 3-1. The Wildcats surged ahead in the third quarter, highlighted by a series of goals that solidified their lead. Myer scored at 11:38 with an assist from Sylvie Dickerman (Corning, N.Y.), followed by Salvo's goal at 9:34, assisted by Calandra. Miranto added a goal at 8:05, further extending Daemen's advantage. Despite several turnovers, Daemen maintained control, ending the quarter with a 6-1 lead over Findlay. The Wildcats capitalized on a free position opportunity early in the fourth quarter with Salvo scoring at the 9:34 mark, extending their lead. Despite Findlay's attempts to close the gap, including a goal by Mylee Cain from a free position shot, Daemen's defense held firm. GAME NOTES Havert's three caused turnovers, and four ground balls marked season-highs. The Wildcats finished with a 17-14 advantage in shots, including a 13-9 lead in shots on goal. Daemen logged nine caused turnovers and scooped up 14 ground balls in the contest. The Wildcats went 12-for-13 on clears. Daemen won six draw controls, led by Bouley and Salvo, who collected two each. The Wildcats defeated Findlay for the second straight season, evening the all-time series at 2-2.
