Wildcats Down Northern Kentucky to Earn Third Win of Season

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Daemen University men's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-19) victory over Northern Kentucky University tonight.
The Wildcats have now won three straight to improve to 3-5 on the year, while the Norse fall to 1-6.

IMPACT PLAYERS
  • Redshirt sophomore Patrick Mullen (Farmingdale, N.J.) led the Wildcats in kills with 13 and only posted one attack error on 24 total attacks, while registering a .500 hitting percentage.  He recorded five digs and one of the team's three aces.
  • Billy Wieberg (Grand Island, N.Y.) finished with eight kills, five digs, and an ace. The redshirt senior tallied three block assists.
  • Jariel Giraud (Orlando, Fla.) paced the team in assists with 29 while adding three digs and two kills. The junior posted a .400 hitting percentage.
  • Redshirt Junior Johnaustin Bly (Lancaster, N.Y.) led the team in digs with seven while posting an ace and five kills.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The opening set saw the Wildcats take an 11-8 lead, but only to see it vanish as the team found themselves tied at 12.  Daemen then used a 13-4 run to close out the set and secure a 25-16 win.
  • Daemen jumped out to an early 8-4 lead in set two to start things off. Both teams exchanged points, with the Wildcats holding an 18-15 lead. The Wildcats strung together a 7-4 run to win the set 25-19.
  • Tied at three in the third set, Daemen took an 11-7 lead following an 8-4 run. The Wildcats held a slight 16-15 lead but were able to lock down the win 25-19 and take the match 3-0 using a 9-4 run.

Daemen is on the road tomorrow when it faces Purdue University Fort Wayne at 1 p.m.
