Wildcats Beat Dragons Behind Bouley's Record-Breaking Performance

TIFFIN, Ohio —  Ella Bouley (Auburn, N.Y.) broke the program record for goals (8) and points (10) in a game, helping Daemen earn a 21-15 victory over Tiffin University (2-3) on Saturday at the Paradiso Complex. 

IMPACT PLAYERS
  • Bouley led the scoring with eight goals and two assists, converting all nine of her shots on goal. She also collected a career-high 10 draw controls.
  • Shannen Calandra (Rome, N.Y.) added three goals, including the game-winner, and contributed two assists. 
  • Avery Castner (Penn Yan, N.Y.) recorded five goals and two assists, showcasing efficiency by scoring on all six of her shots on goal. 
  • Maria Salvo (Clarence, N.Y.) tallied four goals and one assist, with one of her goals coming from a free position.
  • Jenna Havert (Newark, N.Y.) led the defensive efforts with three caused turnovers while scooping up six ground balls. 
  • Bouley also caused three turnovers and collected three ground balls. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Wildcats took control early, scoring six goals in the first quarter and maintaining the lead throughout. They capitalized on woman-up opportunities, netting three goals with the advantage. Ella Bouley secured the opening draw and scored the first goal just 13 seconds into the quarter. The Wildcats continued their momentum with rapid scoring from Calandra and Castner, building an early 4-0 advantage. Despite Tiffin's efforts to respond, Daemen maintained their lead with a goal from Salvo, assisted by Castner, before Tiffin managed to find the net. Bouley scored again for the Wildcats with a free position goal, even while the team was a player down. The first quarter concluded with Daemen leading 6-5.
  • Bouley began the second quarter scoring at 7:17, followed by Castner's goal, assisted by Calandra, pushing the Wildcats further ahead. With the advantage of a woman-up situation after a Dragons' yellow card, Daemen capitalized with another goal by Bouley and a subsequent woman-up goal by Calandra, assisted by Bouley. Daemen took an 11-8 lead into the halftime break. 
  • Daemen opened the third quarter with momentum as Bouley secured the draw control and quickly scored at 14:18, setting the tone for the quarter. Salvo scored again with an assist from Sadie Schlesselman (Lancaster, N.Y.) at 13:13. A critical moment came when Castner found the back of the net at 10:51, extending the Wildcats' lead. Tiffin managed to narrow the gap with a couple of goals, but the Wildcats maintained their edge with timely scores, including a woman-up goal by Calandra at 6:00. Despite playing a woman down, Daemen's resilience was evident as Salvo and Bouley added woman-down goals, with Bouley's coming at 1:04. The quarter concluded with Daemen leading 18-13, cementing their advantage heading into the final stretch.
  • Daemen opened the fourth quarter with a quick goal by Bouley just seven seconds into the frame. Mia Caryl (Marcellus, N.Y.) made a crucial save on a free-position shot at 9:38, maintaining the Wildcats' momentum. Castner extended the lead with a goal at 11:12, assisted by Bouley, consolidating Daemen's control. Schlesselman added another goal at 8:22, furthering the advantage.
GAME NOTES
  • Caster tied her career-high with five goals and surpassed 100 career points in the contest, becoming the second player in program history to achieve the feat. 
  • Salvo tied her season high with four goals and posted a career-best five points
  • Calandra's five points marked a season-best.
  • The Wildcats logged a season-high 33 points and 12 assists in the contest. 
  • Daemen tied its season-best with 11 caused turnovers and scooped up 22 ground balls in the contest.
  • The Wildcats went 17-for-20 on clears.
  • Daemen won 19 draw controls, led by Bouley's 10. 
  • The Wildcats are now 2-0 against Tiffin.
