Daemen Falls to #18 Mercy

AMHERST, N.Y. — Daemen (7-4, 2-1 ECC) fell to #18 Mercy (11-4, 4-0 ECC) 22–9 on Saturday at Royal Park. 

IMPACT PLAYERS
  • Avery Castner (Penn Yan, N.Y.)  led the offense with four goals on eight shots, including a player-up goal. 
  • Ella Bouley (Auburn, N.Y.) contributed effectively with two goals and an assist, while also converting a free position attempt. 
  • Adison Pollutro (West Seneca, N.Y.) added to the scoring with two goals, one of which was during a player-up situation. 
  • Mikayla Myer (Geneva, N.Y.) posted a balanced performance, recording one goal and one assist.
  • Defensively, Bouley and Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) logged two caused turnovers and scooped up two ground balls each.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The game commenced with Mercy securing the initial draw control and quickly converting it into a goal by Ava Franco at 14:46. The Wildcats responded effectively with a goal by Myer, assisted by Marianna Szamoskozi (Port Coquitlam, B.C.), at 13:19, leveling the score briefly. The Mavericks then established control, netting several goals, including two from Riley Wallace. Castner managed to add a player-up goal for Daemen at 3:25 following a green card on Mercy's Riley Wallace. The first quarter concluded with the Mavericks ahead 7-2.
  • Daemen faced a challenging second quarter, conceding multiple goals early on. Pollutro managed to score a player-up goal at 6:31, assisted by Bouley. As the quarter concluded, Bouley struck again with a goal at the buzzer, but Mercy led 15-4 at the break. 
  • The Wildcats started the third quarter with a player-up goal by Bouley at 10:04, which was set up by a free position attempt. Castner then capitalized on another free position shot at 7:25, further narrowing the score gap. Castner continued her impact with an assisted goal by Myer at 4:47, showcasing Daemen's offensive drive. Despite these efforts, Mercy responded with goals by Andrea Mott and Keira Laibach, maintaining its lead. The quarter concluded with Daemen trailing 18-7.
  • In the fourth, Daemen gained momentum as Castner scored at 13:17, assisted by Sadie Schlesselman (Lancaster, N.Y.) narrowing the gap. Pollutro added another goal for the Wildcats at 6:57, maintaining their offensive push. Despite these efforts, Mercy responded with four goals and a late strike by Kiera Medina.
GAME NOTES 
  • Castner logged her third game with three-plus goals
  • Bouley posted her fifth game this season with three-plus points
  • Daemen scored three women-up goals in the game. 
  • The Wildcats went 13-for-15 on clears.
  • Daemen won 11 draw controls.
