Women's Lacrosse Hosts St. Thomas Aquinas for Senior Day on Saturday

SENIOR DAY
Daemen women's lacrosse will host St. Thomas Aquinas for Senior Day on Saturday. The program will honor Abbey Kamas (Horseheads, N.Y.), Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.), Jenna Havert (Newark, N.Y.), Ella Bouley (Auburn, N.Y.), Grace Heath (Corning, N.Y.), Maddy Carpenter (Hilton, N.Y.), Sylvie Dickerman (Corning, N.Y.), Avery Castner (Penn Yan, N.Y.), and Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) before the game. The Wildcats currently hold an 8-5 record, including a 3-2 ECC mark, after defeating D'Youville last Wednesday and falling to Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Daemen defeated crosstown rival D'Youville 16-9 at home last Wednesday. Maria Salvo (Clarence, N.Y.) led the Wildcats with five goals and added an assist, including the game-winning score. Miranto contributed two goals and one assist, Day tallied two goals and two assists, and Adison Pollutro (West Seneca, N.Y.) finished with a hat trick. Defensively, Havert led the team and tied her career high with four caused turnovers while collecting two ground balls. Bouley tallied three caused turnovers and collected five ground balls, tying her career highs in both. Freshman goalie Mia Caryl (Marcellus, N.Y.) made five saves to earn the victory. The Wildcats then fell 13-9 to Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday. Castner led the scoring effort with six points, posting four goals and two assists. Bouley and Pollutro both scored twice. Havert logged three caused turnovers and scooped up two ground balls, while Salvo and Sam Branner (Ontario, N.Y.) also caused two turnovers. Caryl made seven saves in goal.

HAVERT EARNS ECC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Havert was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. She logged seven caused turnovers and collected four ground balls in two games last week. Havert led the team and tied her career-high with four CTs while collecting two ground balls in a 16-9 win over D'Youville last Wednesday. The senior also led Daemen with three caused turnovers and scooped up two ground balls against Roberts Wesleyan.

SCORING IN BUNCHES
The Wildcats have scored 183 goals, the most in a season in program history, and are averaging 14.07 per game. Among the top performances are the Wildcats' program record 25 goals against UDC, 21 against Tiffin, 18 against Gannon, 16 against Lake Erie and D'Youville, and 14 against Walsh. Leading the way is Castner with 35 goals, after she netted a combined six in two games last week. Salvo is second with 32. The junior posted a five-goal performance in the win over D'Youville last week. Bouley is third with 27. She has three games with three or more goals. Castner ranks fourth in the ECC in goals per game (2.69), while Salvo is seventh (2.46), and Bouley sits 10th (2.08). Salvo is also ninth in points per game (3.45), while Caster is 10th (3.23). Shannen Calandra (Rome, N.Y.) is sixth in assists per game (1.31), and Sadie Schlesselman (Lancaster, N.Y.) is eighth (1.23).

BRICK WALLS
Daemen goalies Molly Evans (Fulton, N.Y.) and Mia Caryl (Marcellus, N.Y.) have been stellar thus far. Evans holds a 5-0 record and a 10.21 goals-against average. She made four saves in the victory over Walsh and stopped five shots during the win over Findlay. Caryl holds a 3-5 record and has logged an 11.85 goals-against average. She made eight saves in the win over Molloy, recorded nine stops in the victory over Gannon, and logged five saves in the victory over D'Youville.

CAUSING HAVOC
Miranto currently leads the team in caused turnovers (22) and ranks fifth in the ECC in caused turnovers per game (1.69). She has posted seven games with multiple CTs, including two in three of the previous four games. Havert is second on the team in caused turnovers (21) and ranks sixth in the conference in caused turnovers per game (1.62). She has five games with three-plus caused turnovers, including four in the win over D'Youville. Bouley sits third on the team with 19 CTs and is eighth in the conference in caused turnovers per game (1.46). She has six games with multiple CTs, including three in the victory over the Saints last Wednesday.

IN THE RANKINGS
Daemen currently sits second in the ECC in goals per game (14.08) and points per game (22.00), while ranking third in assists per game (7.92). The Wildcats also sit fourth in draw controls per game (13.18) and caused turnovers per game (9.23).

MAKING HISTORY
Daemen's 25 goals against UDC set a program record for the most in a game. Bouley has hit several milestones this season. She passed 200 career draw controls against UDC last Saturday and scored her 100th career goal against Gannon on March 11. The senior also broke the program record for goals (8) and points (10) in a game during the win over Tiffin. Castner also surpassed 100 career points against Tiffin, becoming the second player in program history to achieve the feat, along with Bouley.
SCOUTING ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (2-10, 1-4 ECC)
The Spartans are coming off back-to-back non-conference losses, falling 22-1 at Franklin Pierce, then dropping a 17-6 decision to Caldwell at home. Jada Garcia is the team leader in goals (17) and points (21), also having four assists. Victoria Calabro and Jade Gorman are tied for the team lead in assists (5), with Gorman also ranking second on the Spartans in points (17). Garcia also leads the team in caused turnovers (21) while scooping up 34 ground balls. Clemence Papleux has collected a team-best 43 ground balls. Goalie Lilah Magenheimer has started 10 games, posting a 2-8 record and a 17.90 goals-against average. 

SERIES HISTORY
The Wildcats are 3-0 all-time against STAC. Last season, Daemen defeated the Spartans 24-3 on the road.
