Wildcats Shutout STAC on Senior Day

AMHERST, N.Y. — Daemen (9-5, 4-2) secured a commanding 20-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas (2-11, 1-5) on Saturday. The Wildcats' defense limited St. Thomas Aquinas to just five shots, with only two on goal.

The  Wildcats honored seniors Abbey Kamas (Horseheads, N.Y.), Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.), Jenna Havert (Newark, N.Y.), Ella Bouley (Auburn, N.Y.), Grace Heath (Corning, N.Y.), Maddy Carpenter (Hilton, N.Y.), Sylvie Dickerman (Corning, N.Y.), Avery Castner (Penn Yan, N.Y.), and Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) before the game.  All of Daemen's seniors who played scored a goal in the game. 

With the win, Daemen clinched a spot in the 2026 ECC Championship. The Wildcats will be the #3 seed and will make the short trip to Rochester on Wednesday to play the #2 seed Roberts Wesleyan in the semifinals at 6 p.m.

IMPACT PLAYERS
  •  Castner netted four goals on six shots, finding the target five times. 
  • Sadie Schlesselman (Lancaster, N.Y.) recorded a team-high four assists and five points with a goal.
  • Bouley added two goals and controlled seven draw controls.
  • Heath posted a career-high three points with a goal and two assists.
  • Miranto contributed a goal and two assists. She also collected four ground balls and caused four turnovers to aid the defense.
  • Day caused four turnovers and collected three ground balls. 
  • Bouley recorded three caused turnovers and scooped up four ground balls, while Maria Salvo (Clarence, N.Y.) also caused three turnovers. 
  • Mia Caryl (Marcellus, N.Y.) and Molly Evans (Fulton, N.Y.) split time in the net to help Daemen earn the shutout. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The opening quarter saw Daemen take control early. Bouely scored the first goal at 13:48. The Wildcats' momentum continued as Heath, Day, and Castner each contributed with goals. Miranto showcased versatility with assists and a free position goal at 1:33. By the end of the first quarter, the Wildcats held a commanding 9-0 lead. 
  • Daemen dominated the second quarter, starting with Kamas scoring at 11:27. A crucial player-down goal by Salvo at 9:45 extended the lead. Bouley added another goal, assisted by Ava Smith (Hamburg, N.Y.), at 7:57. Momentum continued as Adison Pollutro (West Seneca, N.Y.) scored with an assist from Schlesselman at 6:45. The quarter concluded with the Wildcats leading 13-0.
  • In the third, the Wildcats solidified their lead with a sequence of successful plays. Jenna Havert (Newark, N.Y.) initiated the scoring with a goal at 13:30, capitalizing on a turnover caused by Bouley. Day was instrumental, both causing turnovers and assisting Castner's goal at 11:03. Mikayla Myer (Geneva, N.Y.) extended the lead with a goal at 05:03, followed by Schlesselman's goal at 02:27. The quarter concluded with Daemen leading 17-0.
  • The Wildcats strengthened their position in the fourth with an early goal by Salvo, assisted by Schlesselman, just 19 seconds into the frame. The momentum continued as Castner scored with another assist from Schlesselman at 12:32. Pollutro scored the third goal of the quarter at 4:24, again assisted by Schlesselman. St. Thomas Aquinas managed some offensive attempts, but Evans' saves ensured they remained scoreless.
GAME NOTES 
  • Caster logged her eighth game with three or more goals. She scored her 100th career goal in the contest. 
  • Salvo posted her ninth multi-goal game.
  • Bouely also scored multiple goals for the eighth time this season. 
  • The Wildcats went a perfect 18-for-18 on clears.
  • Daemen held STAC to 8-for-22 on clears.
  • The Wildcats logged their second shutout in program history. 
  • Daemen posted a season-high 21 caused turnovers.
  • The Wildcats also scooped up 24 ground balls, tying their season-best for the third time.
