#3 Seed Daemen Travels to #2 Seed Roberts Wesleyan Wednesday for ECC Semifinals

SEMIFINAL SHOWDOWN 
Daemen women's lacrosse earned the #3 seed in the ECC Tournament and heads to Rochester to take on the #2 seed, Roberts Wesleyan, in the semifinals on Wednesday evening. The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 9-5 record, including a 4-2 ECC mark after defeating St. Thomas Aquinas last Saturday. The nine wins are the most in program history. Daemen is making its second appearance in the ECC Tournament and its second straight trip after falling to Mercy in the semifinals last season.

LAST TIME OUT
Daemen (9-5, 4-2 ECC) secured a commanding 20-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas (2-11, 1-5 ECC) on Saturday. The Wildcats' defense limited St. Thomas Aquinas to just five shots, with only two on goal. The Wildcats honored their nine seniors before the game. All of Daemen's seniors who played scored a goal. Avery Castner (Penn Yan, N.Y.) netted four goals, while Sadie Schlesselman (Lancaster, N.Y.) recorded a team-high four assists and five points. Senior Abbey Kamas (Horseheads, N.Y.) posted four points with two goals and two assists. Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) contributed a goal and two assists. She also collected four ground balls and caused four turnovers to aid the defense. Camryn Day (Hamburg, N.Y.) caused four turnovers and collected three ground balls. Ella Bouley (Auburn, N.Y.) recorded three caused turnovers and scooped up four ground balls, while Maria Salvo (Clarence, N.Y.) also caused three turnovers. Mia Caryl (Marcellus, N.Y.) and Molly Evans (Fulton, N.Y.) split time in the net to help Daemen earn the shutout.

MIRANTO EARNS ECC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Miranto was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. She tied her career high with four caused turnovers and scooped up four ground balls in a 20-0 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. She helped the Wildcats record a season-high 21 caused turnovers and tie their season high with 24 ground balls while recording a shutout. Miranto also logged three points with a goal and two assists.

SCORING IN BUNCHES
The Wildcats have scored 203 goals, the most in a season in program history, and are averaging 14.50 per game. Among the top performances are the Wildcats' program record 25 goals against UDC, 21 against Tiffin, 20 against STAC, 18 against Gannon, 16 against Lake Erie and D'Youville, and 14 against Walsh. Leading the way is Castner with 39 goals after netting four against STAC. Salvo is second with 34. The junior posted a five-goal performance in the win over D'Youville. Bouley is third with 29. She has three games with three or more goals. Castner ranked third in the ECC in goals per game (2.79) during the regular season, while Salvo was seventh (2.43), and Bouley ranked tenth (2.20). Salvo was also eighth in points per game (3.36), while Schlesselman was sixth in assists per game (1.43), and Shannen Calandra (Rome, N.Y.) ranked eighth in assists per game (1.31).

BRICK WALLS
Daemen goalies Evans and Caryl have put together stellar seasons. Evans holds a 5-0 record and a 9.27 goals-against average. She made four saves in the victory over Walsh and stopped five shots during the win over Findlay. Caryl holds a 4-5 record and has logged an 11.17 goals-against average. She made eight saves in the win over Molloy, recorded nine stops in the victory over Gannon, and logged five saves in the victory over D'Youville. Both goalies played 30 minutes against St. Thomas Aquinas, helping Daemen record a shutout.

CAUSING HAVOC
Miranto currently leads the team in caused turnovers (26) and ranked fifth in the ECC in caused turnovers per game (1.86) during the regular season. She has posted eight games with multiple CTs, including four against STAC on Saturday. Bouley and Jenna Havert (Newark, N.Y.) are tied second on the team in caused turnovers (22) and ranked tied sixth in the conference in caused turnovers per game (1.567). Havert has five games with three-plus caused turnovers, including four in the win over D'Youville. Bouley has seven games with multiple CTs, including three in the victory over the Spartans last Saturday.

MAKING HISTORY
Castner scored her 100th career goal against STAC last Saturday. Daemen's 25 goals against UDC set a program record for the most in a game. Bouley has hit several milestones this season. She passed 200 career draw controls against UDC last Saturday and scored her 100th career goal against Gannon on March 11. The senior also broke the program record for goals (8) and points (10) in a game during the win over Tiffin. Castner also surpassed 100 career points against Tiffin, becoming the second player in program history to achieve the feat, along with Bouley.
SCOUTING ROBERTS WESLEYAN 
The Redhawks defeated Molloy 13-5 on the road last Saturday to wrap up the regular season. Lia MacDougall is Roberts' leader in goals (56) and is second in points (62) with six assists. Ella Dossier has posted a team-best 53 assists and 64 points, having scored 11 goals. Kadie Tierney ranks second on the Redhawks in goals (38) and assists (15) and is third in points (53). Defensively, Allison Clahane has logged a team-leading 33 caused turnovers while collecting 36 ground balls. MacDougall leads Roberts in ground balls (42) and has caused 31 turnovers. Goalie Kaylee Farias has started all 12 games, posting a 4-8 record, a 9.02 goals-against average, and a .386 save percentage.

SERIES HISTORY
The Wildcats are 0-3 against the Redhawks. Daemen lost 13-9 in Rochester on April 18.
 UP NEXT
If Daemen advances, it will play the winner of the other semifinal game between the  #1 seed Mercy and the #4 seed D'Youville on Saturday. Game time and location are TBD.
