Women's Soccer Drops Home Match to Mercy

AMHERST, N.Y. — Daemen (1-7-1, 0-1 ECC) fell 4-0 to Mercy (5-2-0, 2-0 ECC) on Saturday in East Coast Conference play at Royal Park. The Wildcats put three of their four shots on goal, while Mercy finished with a 16-4 shot advantage and nine shots on frame. 

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Mavericks went up 1-0 in the 10th minute with a goal from Astrid Borglund
  • Borglund scored her second of the contest in the 54th minute, making it 2-0 Mercy. 
  • The Mavericks added two more in the 74th and 89th minutes to secure the win. 
  • Daemen had four corners in the first half. The Wildcats earned a corner at 7:52 and had another at 12:50. 
  • Macayla Hansen's (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) shot at 13:07 forced a save from the keeper. 
  • The Wildcats had back-to-back corners in the 24th minute, but they could not capitalize. 
  • Rylle Kumer (Ambridge, Pa.) made a save at 44:33 to keep it a one-goal game as it went to halftime with Mercy ahead 1-0.
  • Kumer also saved a Hailey Metzger shot at 52:36.
  • The Wildcats pushed for chances later in the half, getting a Mia Dickens shot on frame in the 69th minute.
  • Daemen also had a corner kick in the 73rd minute, and Taylor Fiegel (Lockport, N.Y.) fired a shot wide shortly after.
  • In the 83rd minute, Aliyah Hien (Kenmore, Wash.) ripped a shot that was saved. 
GAME NOTES
  • Kumer made five saves in 90 minutes.
  • Daemen recorded four shots, including three shots on goal
  • The Wildcats had five corners, including four in the first half and one in the second.
