Wildcats Continue Homestand this Weekend against Post and Tiffin

HOME AGAIN
The Daemen women's soccer team continues its season-opening homestand with two games this week. The Wildcats host Post at 11 a.m. on Friday and Tiffin at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats tied Thomas More 1-1 last Sunday. After the Saints pulled ahead 1-0 in the 15th minute, Macayla Hansen (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) converted a penalty kick to even the score. Daemen outshot the Saints 15-8 and held the advantage in corner kicks at 7-3. Hansen scored her sixth career goal. It was also her fifth career penalty kick goal after she went four-for-four on PKs for the Wildcats last season. Goalkeeper Rylee Kumer (Ambridge, Pa.) made three saves. Daemen fell 2-0 to Malone at home in its season opener last Thursday, after the Pioneers scored a goal in each half to secure the win. Hansen contributed offensively with two shots, while Mia Wright (Liverpool, N.Y.) recorded two shots, including one on goal. Kumer made an impact in goal in her first start as a Wildcat, making eight saves across 90 minutes.

NEW SEASON
The Wildcats enter the season under 18th-year head coach Dolan, who led Daemen to an 11-6-1 record in 2025, including a 4-2-1 mark in East Coast Conference play. The Wildcats defeated Queens 2-1 in the first round of the ECC Tournament, before falling 4-1 to Mercy in the semifinals.

PRESEASON POLL
Daemen was picked third in the 2026 ECC preseason poll with 45 points. Mercy was selected first with 62 points (six first-place votes), followed by Molloy with 52 points (one first-place vote). Roberts Wesleyan trailed the Wildcats in fourth with 40 points, followed by Queens in fifth with 37 points (one first-place vote). D'Youville (27 points) was selected sixth, St. Thomas Aquinas (14 points) was picked seventh, and Staten Island (11 points) rounded out the standings in eighth.

ALL-ECC
Twenty players return from last year's squad, including four All-ECC selections. Hansen and Kaitlyn Wright (Geneva, N.Y.) both garnered first-team accolades, while Kaitlin Mettler (Royalton, N.Y.) and Ava Thompson (East Amherst, N.Y.) earned second-team honors. Hansen logged 13 points with five goals and three assists, finishing third on the squad in all three categories. Wright registered 22 points last season, tallying eight goals and six assists. She finished tied for fourth in the ECC in points, fifth in assists, and sixth in goals. Mettler earned second-team accolades after starting all 18 of the Wildcats' games and logging 1,315 minutes, the fourth-most among field players. She also posted two assists. Thompson helped anchor the Wildcats' backline, starting all 17 games she played last season and logging 1,462 minutes, the fourth-most among field players. Daemen recorded five clean sheets last season.

MORE RETURNING TALENT
Other prominent returners include junior Taylor Fiegel (Lockport, N.Y.), who recorded six points (2G, 2A), and senior Victoria DiCarlo (North Tonawanda, N.Y.), who finished third on the team in assists in 2025 with five. Macfarlane and Marisa Rickard (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) each tallied one goal and three assists last season.

THE NEWCOMERS
Daemen welcomed 11 new players, with 10 freshmen and one transfer. The newcomers hail from six states and include three defenders, three midfielders, three forwards, and two goalkeepers.cxx

SCHEDULE OUTLOOK
The Wildcats will play 16 games this season, including eight at home and eight on the road. Daemen begins the year with four straight contests at Royal Park. Following this weekend, the Wildcats will be on the road for the first time, heading to Saint Anselm next Friday (Sept. 11) and Bentley next Sunday (Sept. 13). ECC action opens on Sept. 19 with a road contest at Molloy. The first home conference match will be on Sept. 26 against Mercy.

SCOUTING POST (0-2)
The Eagles opened their season with back-to-back losses, dropping a 5-1 decision to Saint Anselm last Thursday and falling 7-0 to Southern Connecticut State this past Tuesday. The team finished 1-13-2 last season, including a 1-8-1 mark in CACC play. Reese Kloetzer is Post's top returning scorer after finishing with three goals and one assist for seven points last season. Jordyn Calas logged five points in 2025 with a goal and three assists, finishing second on the team in helpers. Aryn Nisbet has started both of Post's games in goal. She also started all 16 of the Eagles' games last year, logging 117 saves.

SERIES HISTORY
The teams met for the first time last season, when Daemen earned a 3-2 road victory.

SCOUTING TIFFIN (1-0-1)
The Dragons defeated Pitt-Johnstown 5-1 in their season opener last Thursday. Callie Cacchione scored twice. Tiffin then tied Davis & Elkins 1-1 last Saturday. The Dragons posted a 3-12-3 record in 2025, including a 2-10-2 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference games. Tia Nagle finished tied for the team lead in points with four last year, after logging a goal and two assists. Five other returners scored one goal for Tiffin last year. Freshman goalie Gianna Parmentier has started both of Tiffin's games this season. She made five saves in the tie against Davis & Elkins.

SERIES HISTORY
Daemen is 3-0 against Tiffin. Last season, the Wildcats earned a 1-0 road win. Daemen also won 2-0 in 2017 and 1-0 in 2016.

UP NEXT
The Wildcats hit the road for the first time next weekend. Daemen will take on Saint Anselm at 11 a.m. on Friday and Bentley at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
