Biography

2024-25 (SOPHOMORE)
Raced in one of the team's seven meets in 2024… Posted a time of 22.38.4 at the Doug Watts Open where he placed 43rd out of 61.

2023-24 (FRESHMAN)
Raced in five of Daemen's seven meets... set personal records in four races... made his collegiate debut at the Frank Dillon Memorial Invitational with a 6K PR time of 23:34.7 to finish 43rd of 67 runners... ran his first 8K and finished 14th with a PR time of 31:02.8 at the Daemen Alumni Invitational... shaved over a minute off his 8K PR with a time of 19:58.8 at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational where he placed 105 out of 151 runners... set his fourth consecutive PR with a time of 29:42.3 as he placed 107 of 142 at the Canisius Alumni Classic... wrapped up his freshman season with a 40th place time of 29:58.2 at the ECC Championships. 

BEFORE DAEMEN
A four-year cross country and track runner for the Westmoreland High School Bulldogs under head coach Neal Bartlett... Section 3 Champion four times... was a NYSPHSAA State qualifier twice his junior year and in all three sports -- cross country, indoor track and outdoor track -- as a senior... was a League Champion six times and a League All-Star eight times in high school... helped the Westmoreland 4x200 and 4x800 meter relay teams to school records in indoor track and the 4x400 meter relay to a school record in outdoor track... set the Pentathalon school record (3,753 points)... Sigma Theta Pi Award... Business Broadways Award winner twice... Physical Education Award winner four times... Scholar Athlete.

Born John Robert Stopera on March 30, 2005 in Rome, N.Y. ... son of Maryruth and David Stopera... hobbies include jet skiing, running and mountain biking... running a marathon, visiting Italy and opening his own PT practice are a few bucket list items... favorite TV show is Suits... dream job is Physical Therapist and Orthopedic Surgeon... chose to attend Daemen because "as soon as I visited, the atmosphere was amazing, and the professors seemed to truly care about their job and students."... majoring in Physical Therapy with minors in Biology and Business.
