Athlete Awards Athletes of the Month Choose Awards Type All Athlete Awards Athletes of the Month Kyle Tracy Award Athletes of the Month Week Of 10/6/2015 Sport Men's Soccer Bio View Full Bio AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen College athletes Katie McKrell (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) and Kyle Tracy (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) have been named Student-Athletes of the Month for September, 2015.McKrell, a 5-foot-8 sophomore, is the starting setting on the women’s volleyball team who took home East Coast Conference honors for Setter of the Week twice last month, picking up the honor for matches played September 8-13 and September 21-27. For the month, McKrell played in 14 matches and led the team with 435 assists, while helping the Wildcats to a 6-8 overall record. McKrell averaged 31.1 assists per match and 9.3 assists per set in the month. In her efforts, McKrell was able to pull off three double-doubles after posting just one in her entire freshman campaign. McKrell's top performance of the month came when she tallied 57 assists in a win over Le Moyne College on September 16. The outing marked the second time in her career where she put up 50 or more assists in a match. McKrell is currently fourth in the conference for total assists with 535.Tracy, a 5-foot-10 freshman, is a midfielder on the men’s soccer team. In September, Tracy netted three goals, becoming the first Daemen freshman to score three times in a single month since teammate Alex Reid (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) did so in September of 2013.Tracy scored both of the goals for Daemen in a 3-2 loss to Stonehill College on September 11. Tracy netted his first goal with 23:53 into playing time off an assist from Jeremy Nand (Toronto, Ont./University of Charleston). The second goal for the freshman was added with 2:09 left in playing time after solid ball movement , again from Nand. His third goal was added in an ECC matchup against Saint Thomas Aquinas College with a little short of four minutes left in regulation time.After adding two goals in Daemen's 3-3 draw at Roberts Wesleyan College last week, he currently leads the team in points (10), goals (5), and shots on goal (13).
