AMHERST, N.Y. - Daemen's tough early season schedule continued on Friday night as the Wildcats squared off against #4 Cornerstone University at Lumsden Gymnasium where they fell to 2-3 on the season after a 72-64 loss to the Golden Eagles. It was the Wildcats' third consecutive loss and second to a team ranked in the upper echelon of NAIA Division II.
After falling behind 9-0 in the opening minutes, the Wildcats were able to battle back, eventually taking a 31-27 lead into halftime. The Wildcats rode the hot shooting of junior forward Dominic Mazzocchi who scored 19 of his game-high 26 points in the opening stanza. Mazzocchi also contributed a team-high 10 boards.
The highly-touted Golden Eagles were paced by starter Bryan Pasciak and reserve Justin Yoder who each canned 16 points. Ronald Bates was next with 14 while Kelvin DeVries added 12. Leading scorer Caleb Simons was held to just eight points but he delivered a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles blistered the nets for 45 second half points on 15-of-24 (63%) shooting to come away with the win.

Casey Sheehan knocked home 18 points while dishing five assists. Senior
Khorri Silcott added 12 points and seven rebounds.
