ERIE, Pa. - The Daemen Wildcats dropped their sixth straight game on Saturday, falling to 2-6 in the process, after an 81-56 defeat at the hands of AMC foe Cedarville in the consolation game of the 27th Annual Gary Miller Classic hosted by Gannon University.
Cold shooting again cost the Wildcats as they managed just six field goals in the second half (6-for-28; 21%) turning what was a close game into a romp for Cedarville. The #14-ranked Yellow Jackets enjoyed 50% shooting from the field on the evening (32-for-64) and provided a more consistent effort throughout the ballgame to come away with the win.
With the game tied at 31-31, Cedarville used two steals and subsequent layups to take a 35-31 lead into halftime before the flood gates opened in the second half.
Matt Harner paced the Yellow Jackets with 21 points, hitting on 5-of-9 from behind the arc. Brian Hecker and Derrick Hannon added 16 points apiece while Adam Riehle grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
Dominic Mazzocchi led Daemen with 14 points.
Mujeeb Oridami came off the bench to score 11 while grabbing a team-high eight boards. Freshman guard
Aaron Davis recorded his first career game in double figures with 11.
Daemen opens league play this Tuesday night at Notre Dame (OH) before hosting #2 Walsh next Saturday night.
