AMHERST, N.Y. - The Daemen Wildcats won their third consecutive game on Tuesday night and snapped out of a bit of an offensive funk in the process by downing the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks 104-69 on the opening day of the Daemen College Can-Am Classic at Lumsden Gymnasium. The Wildcats hadn't topped the 70-point plateau since a 77-69 win at Notre Dame College back on November 30 but they broke out to the tune of 61 second half points en route to their highest point total of the season, improving their overall record to 6-7.
The visitors came out in control for much of the first half but Daemen used a 13-2 run late in the opening stanza to grab control of the lead which they never relinqueshed. Daemen led 43-36 at halftime and they immediately pushed the lead to 19 as they went on a 17-5 spurt over the first five minutes of the second half.
The Daemen lead ballooned to as many as 35 points in the second half thanks to a 76% shooting in the frame (22-for-29). For the game, the Wildcats shot a season-best 66% from the floor (40-for-61).
Freshman guard
