WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of their 2013-14 season this morning with a 9-0 loss to the University of the District of Columbia in an East Coast Conference match held indoors at Miller Tennis Center. UDC improved to 7-2 on the season and grabbed sole position of third place in the ECC standings with a 6-2 mark in conference play. Despite the loss, Daemen winds up the fall season at 5-11 overall (1-7 ECC), quintupling the team's win total from their inagural season of competition last year, with an entire spring season still to go.
Sophomore Shaylah Iverson (Canandaigua, N.Y./Naples) put up the best fight today for Daemen, but fell 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles to UDC's Tamara Kenia.
The match was originally scheduled for last Friday (Oct. 18) but had to be postponed due to the government shutdown.
Daemen's spring season will kick off on Saturday, Feb. 22 when they host Le Moyne College at Miller Tennis Center.
