Daemen's eight seniors played in their final home game today Men's Soccer and UDC Play to 2-2 Draw 10/26/2013 4:09:00 PM Box Score AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen College men's soccer team and East Coast Conference opponent University of the District of Columbia battled to a 2-2 double overtime draw at Dimp Wagner Stadium today. The Wildcats move to 4-11-1 on the season and 0-7-1 in conference play while the Firebirds are now 7-5-1 and 2-4-1 in conference play. The Wildcats were the first to get on the board when senior forward Kyle Clifford (West Seneca, N.Y./St. Francis) scored an unassisted goal in the 40th minute putting Daemen up 1-0 going into halftime. Daemen answered again when freshman Alex Reid (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) received a feed from teammate Zakariah Hall (Wells, England / The Blue School) and blasted a shot to the lower left corner which then put the Wildcats up 2-0 in the 61st minute. The Firebirds then generated the final two goals of the game as Moussa Traore scored off an assist from Bakary Coulibaly in the 66th minute. Coulibaly then provided the final margin of the game when he headed in a cross feed from Patrick Borchert in the 83rd minute. Both teams had plenty of looks in overtime play but could not capitalize on their offensive chances leaving the score tied at 2-2. UDC launched 26 total shots in the game putting 11 of them on goal while Daemen had eight of their 14 shots on frame. The Firebirds also held an 11-4 advantage in corner kick opportunities. This was Daemen's first tie since their match against the University of Point Park on September 20, 2008. Senior goalkeeper Daniel Romer (Amsterdam, Netherlands / St. Nicolas Lyceum) made a game high of nine saves for the Wildcats. Romer, along with fellow seniors Jared Contreas (Arcadia, Calif./Arcadia), Sean Hellingman (Kamloops, B.C./Westsyde), Trevor Hill (Courtice, Ont./Holy Trinity Catholic), Zakariah Hall (Wells, England/The Blue School), Devin Kinney (Hinsdale, N.Y./Hinsdale Central), Kyle Clifford(West Seneca, N.Y./St. Francis) and Josh Radecki (South Wales, N.Y./Holland Central) were honored in a pre-game ceremony before playing in the final home contest of their careers today.
