Daemen Falls in Close Match to Oswego 10/5/2013 5:48:00 PM OSWEGO, N.Y.- The Daemen College women's tennis team competed hard but fell short as they dropped a 4-5 match to Oswego State University today. "Everyone put all they could into this match.," said head coach Stephen Beatty. "Unfortunately, we came up short." Daemen earned a win in No. 1 doubles as freshmen Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind. / Perry Meridian) and Brianna Fiorita (Niagara Falls, N.Y. / Niagara-Wheatfield) took down Oswego's Jessie Flaim and Lauren Stall 8-2. Both Scanlan and Fiorita followed that up with a win in their singles matches. Scanlan downed Stall 6-1, 6-0 while Fiorita defeated Nicole Leader 7-5, 6-0. The Wildcats also got a win at No. 2 singles as sophomore Shaylah Iverson (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Naples) defeated Oswego's Jessie Flaim 6-1, 6-4. Daemen will travel to face the Alfred University Saxons of the Eastern College Athletic Conference tomorrow for a 1PM match.
