ROCHESTER, N.Y.- The Daemen College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 defeat on the road today, falling to Roberts Wesleyan College in an East Coast Conference match. With the loss, Daemen falls to 3-10 in the team's second season of existence while the Redhawks improve to 10-2 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
"Today we competed really tough. This was a big improvement from our match against them last year," said head coach Stephen Beatty. "I am proud of how the team played."
Daemen's best chance to snatch a point came in No. 1 singles where freshman Hayle Scanlan (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) put up a fight but ultimately lost the match, 6-3, 6-1.
The WIldcats will look for a quick turn around as they host Houghton College of NCAA Division III this Friday (Oct. 11) at the Park Country Club Courts in Williamsville, N.Y. for a 4 p.m. match.
