EDINBORO, Pa. - The Daemen College men's tennis team suffered its third setback of the spring season today, falling 9-0 at the hands of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, a NCAA Division II institution and member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.
The doubles team of Gregory Lowe (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) and Zach Kinnaird (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) nearly picked up a win in the No. 1 doubles slot, but fell to Edinboro's James Cooper and Amir Talab 8-5.
Lowe took the first set of his match at No. 1 singles against Edinboro's Kevin Caldwell but eventually fell after a third set tie-break (2-6, 6-2, 12-10).
The loss drops Daemen to 1-5 overall as the team competes in its inaugural season. The Fighting Scots improved to 6-2.
The Wildcats will look to regroup next weekend when they travel to face NCAA Division II opponents Adelphi University (Mar. 8), Dowling College (Mar. 9) and New York Institute of Technology (Mar. 10).
