ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's cross country team eased into the 2013 season with a second place finish at the Talon Invitational, a short 3200-meter jaunt hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College. The host Redhawks topped the team standings after placing five runners in the top six.
Stopping a RWC sweep of the top five was freshman Mackenzie Donahue (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) who finished in third place with a time of 11:36.0 in her collegiate debut.
Fellow freshman Hannah Rice (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) also earned a top-10 finish with a time of 11:55.1 which was good for ninth. Sophomore Jordan Weir (Cato, N.Y./Cato-Meridian) was next with a time of 12:23.7 (11th place), finishing just outside the top 10.
Sophomore Brooke Nolan (Depew, N.Y./Depew) and freshman Katherine Robinson (Pasadena, Calif./Pasadena) rounded out the scorers for Daemen, finishing in 14th and 15th places, respectively.
The Wildcats are back in action next Saturday (Sept. 21) at the Highlander Invitational, hosted by Houghton College.
